The difference between other programs and Texas, though, is that Texas is objectively/measurable better in quite a few ways. One of them, for instance: Austin is the largest American city with a flagship state university and no “big 3” pro sports teams. That is objectively important in the NIL age. Also, we are the only team that has been to both of the last two final fours. Also, the team with the most combined draft picks in the last two drafts. On the point about Dawg Nation trashing Atkinson: just another reason to be appreciative of the class of OTF. -

No doubt but there was an order of magnitude difference between the typical handshakes and the bag drops SEC schools were doing pre-NIL. And now there is another order of magnitude difference between those bag drops and the "NIL" today. For players in the UT roster they are probably literally making 100x what they were before NIL... (Talking in terms of pure cash, not counting the value of the scholarships and whatnot). -

Kirby needs to establish some relationships with the Athens PD. Lived there for a while when I was seventeen and eighteen without ever getting a single ticket. -

No one complained when they could come into Texas and poach whatever they wanted. Now that we do the same, it's the worst thing ever lol. -

Nope it’s all because of Smoke. Everything changed after Smoke. -
Great for X - he is a great kid, my son played baseball with him last 3 years at Prestonwood, the amount of mlb scouts at the games when he pitched was a sight to see. What will be interesting is the 2026 class that Texas has and who actually makes it to campus - between Grady Emerson who is predicted to go 2nd overall, trey rengel and others I can easily 4 2026 kids in Texas class signing in first few rounds - 2025 class is good, but 2026 class is crazy good

I think the problem is most fans tend to believe that everything about their program is simply superior to every other program, so if a recruit doesn’t pick them it is because of money. This is a shallow way to think. Georgia is butt hurt because they are losing culture recruits to a superior culture system and want to blame it on money. You may recall a few weeks ago many members of this board were doing the same thing. I heard a pod cast on dawg nation where they were ridiculing Tyler Atkinson’s brand AtkinUp and saying he wasn’t even that good. It was silly. I wouldn’t put much stock in what Georgia fans and even Kirby are trying to imply. They have a great program and so do we. We will win some and they will too. We just have to whip their ass this year on the field to shut them up. I’m here for that! hookem 🤘 -

I know about the handshakes and money sandwiches but those are still very different than full out bags that were famously being dropped by SEC teams well before it became somewhat legal.

It's just classless to me for a coach of Kirby's status to get involved in the BS. He's won championships and has the number 2 class. They spend money. I'm tired of the hypocrisy that's going on. - Yesterday

Freeman is not only a good hitter but he provides a ton of lineup versatility/flexibility. He can play OF, INF and C if necessary. Those types of players are hard to find. Ashton Larson may not provide the same power as Moroknek but Larson was very good as a freshman in the SEC. He was injured for a portion of this season. Grubbs, Luke Harrison and Riojas are returning. And some talented freshman pitchers will be here to compete. Aiden Robbins has been good in the Cape Cod league so far. Hitting around .300 with 4 HR, 6 doubles and a triple. Larson and Robbins were both selected for the Cape Cod All-Star game (Saturday, July 19th)

Happy for Alfred and his family. He could of bailed for a more opportune situation when he was passed over or when Bo left, but he kept working and gets rewarded with generational wealth.🤘

Also big props to @Jeff Howe for pointing out that all fanbases engage in such thinking - when we get a commit, it's because of the program and the relationships, when "they" get the commit it's the bags. Many of us did it (myself included) when Ojo committed to Tech. It's just human nature, but not used to seeing such intellectual honesty in a discussion of SEC football 🤘😉 Edit: To be clear, we're fortunate that we have mods that don't go beyond matter-of-fact statements about larger NIL deals during these discussions and not equating players taking those deals to moral failures. -

Everyone including Texas have been dropping “bags” for a long time. Had buddies of mine get “handshakes” in the 70s.
