Bama loss FSU should matter because their conference champ is 8-5 and unranked which means the ACC is weak.

Valid point 🙂

Yeah sad honestly

I gave my reasons subsequent to Kevin’s initial post. Rather than being so arrogant and stating there was zero logic there perhaps you should inquire as to what my logic is before making such a declaration. And the point you are making is not one that applies only to a 24 teams playoff. Sure, this year I’d rather be in than not. And you can certainly track my posts to reflect that. I am an old man now. So many years ago, the last time I played a game of football I never knew, never thought it’d be my last. It was. There are emotions associated with that. So I’m not going to call a bowl game or any game meaningless. But you go ahead. And as a fan, I’ll look forward to it and cheer the Horns on. Additionally on the season ticket holder bit, I feel the need/desire to be there for all the big games. The more games you have the more pressure from a financial and time perspective. Perhaps you have more of those resources than I do, perhaps less. I have no idea. But I’ve already gone through the exercise of attempting to manage this thought process last year. Adding another layer does not help that but also just expands the issues on the selection process. These dudes can’t handle 12. They won’t be able to handle doubly thst.

Looks like it should just be Indiana v Georgia this year. Watch the committee mess this one up too and put them both in the same semifinal.
-
Identical types of teams, either could be in, neither will win a championship.
-
It’s expensive enough as it is. You’re also getting into family time. I’ve missed maybe 5 home games in 30 years, one being Clemson for that very reason. The 24 teams devalues the regular season. You only play 12 games so we may be in the midst of a debate as to whether we schedule tough teams. I care little about a team that loses 4 games (or 33%) getting a shot at an undefeated. So there’s a possibility that we shelve the marquee games. If so, I’ve now lost one of the best reasons to have tickets. Even if you get that one back in the postseason, you may be paying for an extra throwaway game early on. All in favor of shuffling the chairs on the Titanic. The more teams you allow in, the more debate will ensue. Not just who is in but the seeds. Those seeds determine who gets byes, who gets home games, who get the James Madisons. All those factors will get teams hyper focused on manipulating their schedules to maximize their opportunities.

2 star out of high school!

The business part says he’d need to accept a decrease in NIL to stay here. The bigger problem is sark. He finds guys he “loves” and just sticks with them. Simon looked promising and then never got any run. If he comes back, I can’t imagine sark not playing him. Last year should have year 1 for manning. That defense was perfect for a qb on a learning curve. We probably beat OSU and Fl with that defense but he let qe come back. We do this every year on offense. He simply doesn’t play many folks. That’s why we keep missing out on receivers and having so many upper classmen with little game experience on offense. Very frustrating.

My guess is the college football world has ‘Texas Fatigue’ and are using any lame excuse possible to keep us out.

There’s really not much havoc. This is a Texas fan problem trying to get into the last spot. In the past, undefeated or really strong 1 loss teams would get left out. Today they don’t. Objectively, in over half our games, we played poorly and not close to playoff level football. Period. We lost to a 4 win team in maybe our worst game in 3 years. We quit in the 4th against Ga. We don’t deserve to get in. Now, our argument to get is that we sit on the fringes and our overall resume provides a stronger argument to get in over other fringe teams. That’s fair. The goalpost moving and bias against Texas is ridiculous and frustrating but let’s stop using language that suggests we earned our way in. We lost 3 games. Crying about the schedule and who we played means we’re looking for a formula vs building a team that wants to play and beat other strong teams. We had 3 chances to win one game with fl and osu right there for the taking. We didn’t. A 2 loss Texas is in. Period. 🤘🏽

I agree with you, but what the committee said in the off-season and what theyre doing now are different things. They're showing you what they value now.
-
Apples and oranges. The top 4 slots last year were strictly reserved for league champions. So we were “dropped” to make room for the mid major champions.

If you think about it, that can’t always be true. It only works if your resume as an at large team stands on its own. If it didn’t matter than no one would switch positions. It does matter - they just want to artificially control how big or little it matters. If Miami was correctly put in ahead of ND and played in the ACC championship and lost, they would have been knocked out of the CFP. Every game has to matter (I mean it should).

One more thing against the argument that "the conference Championship game was not supposed to affect the two teams playing" theory - In 2024 Texas was ranked # 2 going into the SEC Conference Championship game, played well against Georgia but lost in OT. Texas dropped to # 5 in the rankings. Why should Alabama not be dropped 2-3 ranking spots after getting blown out in the 2025 CCG while rushing for -3 yards when Texas was dinged 3 spots for losing in OT?
-
Who is an idiot. That man made failing upwards his career goal.
-
We could be in this same spot next year with Ohio St at home and road games at Tenn, A$M, and LSU and with OU at Dallas. Not to mention a playoff team in Ole Miss at home. We also play Florida at home and I predict they will be much better next year with a new staff and a veteran team and easier schedule.

Don't forget who is in charge of the committee, the Arkansas AD. Good luck with that.

Go home and be the backup at UNT. -
I have to disagree texas loss to Florida and Georgia , the committee came out and said they weren’t gonna count the games like Ohio state against teams but yet here we are . Yeah the Florida loss was bad but go look at the bama loss it’s worse than that . So if they get in over texas that is bullshit

Austin Regional if I recall correctly Texas vs Indiana Stanford vs Wisconsin -
I really don’t understand, miami played in the worst conference, played against NEITHER of the teams in their conference championship, lost to SMU, lost to Louisville, but I’m supposed to believe that they’re so great and playoff worthy. They beat ND by 3 week 1, why is that such a great win and put them in the conversation? ND lost to both good teams they played, one of which we dominated and beat by 10 and kneeled the clock out, maybe sark next time should go put up 6 more points.
