Who do we have to replace in 2026?
CJ Vogel replied to Quinncent McManning, Jr.'s topic in On Texas Football Forum
Part of why the staff is looking at 3 at LB in 2026. The one take in 2024 with Ty'Anthony Smith leaves the room thin-ish given who all is eligible to declare. -

Breaking down all offensive position groups… looking at 2026, what happens with Brandon Baker? Is he a dude? If so, Nick Brooks can play LT. If not, we will need a dude at one of the OT spots. LB’er would be a concern if Brad Spence didn’t return. Hill is obviously gone. Lefau, Tyanthony, Barnes, Cunningham and new comers Atkinson and Okpala make for a very young group. Not worried about the defensive backfield. What happens with Baker and Spence are key. -

It would be no surprise to me if Baxter left for the league after this season, regardless of production -

He will play but LB is a tough jump to make for a freshman. Not sure he starts. At least no early in the season. Play for sure. Hes pretty advanced though so he has that going for him -

Hopefully 90%+ of the replacements and 100% of the starers will come from 2024&2025 classes and those guys will get some reps this year in games 2-4 and others where the outcome is not in doubt in 4th Q. -

Don't think you can keep Atkinson off the field. Think freshman Derek Johnson, high impact player -
Exactly what I was thinking as I was making the list. The difference in 1st round talent is astonishing.

The hit rate between the two lists is striking as well. There is a difference between being a 5 star on a list and playing like a 5 star when your time comes.

you can thank Gerry Hamilton for it. He has everyone convinced I’m a Oregon fan so I have to play the part

I wonder if younger fans remember Robison. He was the athletic freak that I hope Lance Jackson will become. Robison ran a true 4.6 and had NBA vertical leap at 260 pounds. He was the SWC shot put champ as well. Most importantly, he kept the national championship game alive by stuffing LenDale White on 4th and short. What a player!

I think Sark’s secret sauce is his vulnerability. He doesn’t run from his past, but it doesn’t define him either. There are few things in life as fulling as watching someone you love battle addiction, overcome it and grow from by becoming the best version of themselves. To that end, the version of Sark that Washington and USC hoped they’d get appears to be the one Texas has right now.
