Early yesterday morning the Longhorns had no odds listed to make the CFP. Those odds then appeared around 9:30 AM on Monday at +4000. It then went to +2500, followed by +2000 around 11 AM today. At the time of this post it’s now +1800. Could mean something, could mean money is just pouring in on Texas, could mean nothing.

I don't disagree with you saying thats the reason. I think thats probably their rationale as well. I'm just critiquing that rationale as hypocritical given where Alabama is ranked and the supposed "criteria" they set for themselves.

Can’t help but think of Brennan Thompson. He has a grand total of 2 catches. Maybe he develops how Thompson has this year but doubt the initial steps would be at Texas.

Unfortunately I think this post is accurate in how this will all play out. Networks will get the viewership/ad revenue back in an expanded playoff when tough OOC games are canceled. I guess we’re at 13 tonight.

I think “strength of schedule” in the committee’s rubric was a euphemism for conference affiliation. They didn’t want to go down this road, but it was inevitable. And the consequences are seismic.

Ohio State 2. Indy 3. UGA 4. Tech 5. Oregon 6. Ole Miss 7. TAMU 8. Notre Dame 9. OU 10. BYU 11. Texas 12. Miami I think we’ll be sandwiched between Miami and at 13.

I dont recall that being primary criteria for the committee. There are teams ahead of Texas (Alabama) where that is not the case. Head to head and strength of schedule are the primary criteria by which they are supposed to grade.

Great question for the committee. My answer to you would be they won all of the games they were supposed to win. Texas did not.

I actually think it is the chaos you can control versus the chaos you can not control. Committee can control this years teams but not universities cancelling their impactful non conference games in the future. They do this and unlikely to have great games in September.
