88 days until Texas Football, so today’s countdown looks at the best Longhorns to ever wear No. 88. Cotton Speyrer has an easy argument for No. 1. He was a two-time All-American, helped Texas win back-to-back national titles in 1969 and 1970, and had one of the great Cotton Bowl performances in program history with 161 yards and two touchdowns against Notre Dame. Cedric Reed had a strong career at defensive end with 201 tackles, 37 tackles for loss, 18 sacks and two All-Big 12 selections. Of course more recently, Barryn Sorrell was a multi-year starter and consistent edge presence, including honorable mention All-Big 12 honors in 2022 and 2023. We have a pair of current No. 88's in tight end Charlie Jilek and DL Maraad Watson. Who is your favorite? Who was the top dog to ever wear it?

Amari Evans ... different player. But that role, but I believe Evans is/will be a better offensive threat -
Good for Coach! He’s a good dude and I was sad he didn’t really get a chance to play more of his style last year. It was clear that he wasn’t jiving well with PK system. Would’ve loved to see him and Muschamp back together again with Gideon!

Allow me to humbly suggest that we don’t allow one situation to harm our own hearts. It seems like many people around Tech might be gaming a side of a system of which they stood on the other side recently. But don’t let what others do spark cruelty or bitterness in you. Remember, vengeance belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19).

From the OP’s article: “In January 2026, court records revealed that the charges against Calicut had been dismissed. When asked about Calicut’s football future at the time, Quanell X said, “He will be leaving for Georgia soon.” Instead, Calicut ultimately signed with Georgia Southern, signaling a final pivot in a recruitment journey that took several dramatic turns.” I bet that was an interesting conversation when they contacted Georgia about the move in date.

Who will be the Chendall Weaver type guy? The spark, hustle, energy, 5-tool player? Is Freeman the one? -
Did yall see that international player that was selected in the last round of the nfl draft without ever having played football before? https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/eagles-drafted-player-never-played-014000838.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAN7n2R8O_khtJyENF06zkEbd6v9WZp5TlyLZT_sDGv7SrARBkPY_RHw6ioQsuGEEqXTnB_DU01J4A1wOubUWXC_eZXumEmrwwy9ocQgQDaPdtCmmIkDLgYuYYvAQUyLE_wklUoWfhu25Tg5-THBHcK6MiJXT5iVpyGYkZgFKQGUE

Completely agree on recruiting international players. Low risk, high reward type of scenario. -

I'm surprised there is a college coach willing to take him on.
