Moderators Blake Munroe Posted Wednesday at 12:54 PM Moderators Posted Wednesday at 12:54 PM Three days until kickoff and No. 3 has been worn by some absolute dudes at Texas. Nathan Vasher finished with 155 tackles, 64 pass breakups and a school-record 17 interceptions. He was also an elite punt returner and earned All-America honors twice. Quinn Ewers threw for 9,128 yards and 68 touchdowns. He went 27-9 as a starter, won the 2023 Big 12 championship and led Texas to back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinals. Mossy Cade recorded 11 interceptions and earned first-team All-America honors in 1983. He helped Texas win the Southwest Conference and was later selected sixth overall in the NFL Draft. Hodges Mitchell rushed for 2,664 yards and had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He also earned first-team All-Big 12 honors twice. Jordan Hicks finished with 248 tackles and 22.5 tackles for loss. He recorded 147 tackles in 2014 and earned second-team All-America honors. Rasheem Biles and Emmett Mosley V will wear No. 3 for Texas this season. Who y’all taking? 12 2 Quote

BigMac Posted Wednesday at 01:37 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:37 PM As a 16 year old, my coach took me to a Texas game for the first time. I had become a fan when Earl played, but this my first in person visit. It was 1983 and Texas had the most dominating defense I had ever seen. Mossy Cade was an absolute stud on a defense full of them. He gets my vote. That dude was unreal. 2 Quote

KissMyGrits Posted Thursday at 04:19 AM Posted Thursday at 04:19 AM Quinn Ewers meant more to the program as an "it factor" than anything else. He was a solid QB, but when he came back to Texas, it became an "exponentially cool" place for big recruits again. Arch has some of the same gravitas. We were floundering for years on being an "IT" place to land. For those of us that remember surviving on what we could get, versus what we wanted and needed. The Mack Brown era brought in the dudes, but there was a decade or so where oklahoma and a&m got the better of us in recruiting. Quote
