About Me

  1. Texas will host former Arizona State 2B Ethan Mendoza for a visit Saturday. Mendoza spent his high school days at Southlake Carroll before heading out west to Arizona State for his freshman season. He has visited Oklahoma on Monday and then made the trip over to Arkansas the following day. In 2024, Mendoza started 49 games at 2nd base where he slashed .315/.367/.443 ... in other words he had a .910 OPS. With Dee Kennedy departing for the portal and eventually Kansas State, Texas has a vacancy at the 2nd base spot and Mendoza would be a nice addition if the visit goes well.
  2. Texas Baseball has added another member to its 2025 recruiting class. Grady Westphal, a right handed pitcher from Stilwell, Kansas, becomes the latest to flip his commitment from Texas A&M to the Texas Longhorns since the hiring of Jim Schlossnagle. Westphal is clocked between 90–93 mph on his fastball and adds a low 80’s slider with plus spin.
  3. There were some questions regarding the commitment of 2025 Ruston (LA) cornerback Aidan Anding being delayed. Well here might be your reason for that. Anding was offered by LSU Friday evening.
  4. OTF is expecting Kansas State transfer PF Arthur Kaluma to have a final call/talk with Rodney Terry and staff in the next 24 hours. SMU and Texas is where the decision will come from per a source. SMU will have a bigger NIL package for Kaluma. Should Texas win this, it would be Kaluma buying into what Texas could be with a top 8 rotation of: PG Julian Larry, 6-3 SG/CG Jordan Pope, 6-1 SG Tre Johnson, 6-6 SG Tramon Mark, 6-6 SG Chendall Weaver, 6-3 PF/F Jayson Kent, 6-7.5 PF Arthur Kaluma, 6-7.5 C Kadin Shedrick 6-11
  5. Made a quick stop at Dekaney High School this morning to catch up with 2025 TE Nick Townsend and 2025 WR Tanook Hines ahead of their July 10 decision date. Both took official visits to Austin this month and the Longhorns are in contention with a decision two weeks out at the moment.
  6. Alief (Texas) Hastings EDGE Smith Orogbo remains scheduled to announce his commitment July 1. The OnTexasFootball 4-star+ twitchy pass rush prospect has a final four of Washington, Texas Tech, Texas and Oklahoma. Should Smith cut his list to just three, it will be interesting to see if Washington makes the cut. If the Huskies are in the final three, that would mean one of the three closest to home gets left out. Texas Tech tried to apply the commit now/very quickly heat on the OV June 7-9. Texas and Oklahoma - who will push hardest. The Sooners just picked up a second EDGE commitment in the class within the last hour. The Longhorns love the explosive pass rush upside of the Houston area prospect.
  7. Two more lunchtime notes Michael Fasusi, OT, Lewisville (Texas) High OTF reported yesterday that Fasusi enjoyed his tine outside of football more in Norman than Austin. Or on the visit. That was reiterated by a second source today. Oklahoma and Texas duking it out with the Sooners having confidence. Texas also has a level of confidence. Late August announcement remains likely. Lamont Rogers, OT, Mesquite (Texas) Horn OTF had mentioned don't sleep on Missouri in this recruitment. OTF is not sleeping on Missouri in this recruitment. Texas, FSU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma still in the mix.
  8. Auburn DB commit Devin Williams just departed from Austin. Williams singled out Terry Joseph as the coach on staff he has the best relationship with at the moment. Though committed to Auburn, Williams said the Texas OV gave him a lot to think about over the next few weeks. He said he’s still committed to Auburn but there will be some conversations with his family coming up. Texas did a great job presenting the city and the networking opportunities to Williams on the trip.
  9. Texas vs Oklahoma for Fasusi is where it remains headed with the Aggies swinging. A source close to the recruitment said Fasusi truly values the plan and development of Kyle Flood. Fasusi also really enjoyed his away football time in Norman. That appealed to him, maybe more than Texas. And yes, the players went out to 6th area a little while last night. It’s a recruitment Texas can win. But still in the balance/battle.
  10. 2025 Texas TE commit Emaree Winston just arrived at the airport at the conclusion of his official visit. Winston told OTF his recruitment is basically shut down following the OV despite some noise from Auburn. Winston said he got to recruit Jaime Ffrench, Kaliq Lockett and Nick Townsend. Interestingly, he said he did not know if Townsend was a TE or a defensive end. Regardless, a positive trip for the Longhorns.
  11. Texas RB commit James Simon is headed back home after his official visit this weekend. Simon told OTF he had a blast on the trip and is continuing to build his relationship with the other committed players in the class on campus this weekend. Christian Clark was his player host and Simon mentioned spending plenty of time on the trip with KJ Lacey and Arch Manning. In regards to his recruitment, Simon says he’s all the way locked in to the Horns.
  12. OTF has Melissa High 2026 6-6 SG Austin Goosby, younger brother of Trevor Goosby, on offer watch https://www.instagram.com/p/C8fw01rvJcI/?igsh=OGRzdjRqNzlnMGJt

  13. OTF caught up with Conroe (Texas) High 4-star CB Dorian Brew as he was boarding his flight to Columbus to OV to Ohio State. I had time to ask him one question … scale of 1 to 10 how would he rank the Texas visit? ”Ten.” Brew was hosted by Jaylon Guilbeau.
  14. A quick rundown of tweets and notes from the official visitors on campus ahead of the weekend festivities. Texas is hosting a trio of official visitors currently, all in the defensive secondary: Mansfield Timberview DB Nathan Tilmon Conroe CB Dorian Brew Mission Viejo (CA) CB Dijon Lee Plus some notes on additional prospects elsewhere.
  15. Four-star Mission Viejo CB Dijon Lee has arrived in Austin for his official visit and will be on campus shortly. The official visit is set to begin within the next hour. The 6-foot-4 west coast cornerback will wrap up his official visit Thursday, before heading out to Tuscaloosa for an OV with Alabama.
  16. Texas extended an offer to 2026 Thomasville EDGE Camron Brooks this afternoon. The Longhorns are looking to capitalize off their 2026 momentum and extend another offer in the Peach State, where they have begun to see their efforts rewarded in 2025. Brooks is listed as a 6-foot-3 and 240-pound pass rusher with a 4-star rating on most services.
  17. 2025 San Ramon Valley (CA) EDGE Marco Jones says Texas gave him a lot to think about in regards to his decision coming up. Jones has a decision date set for July 2 and will take one more OV to USC. Texas is recruiting him as an off-ball LB that can spin down to rush off the edge. Jones mentioned the city and campus were really big takeaways on the trip, and also mentioned the California ties the Texas staff have help their case for his recruitment.
  18. Texas and 4-star DL Myron Charles OTF believes Texas continues to have legit shot at the Port Charlotte (Fla.) High 4-star defensive tackle. Legit shot. Charles was at Miami this weekend. This one will come down to the FSU OV June 21-23, and then the decision between the Noles vs. Horns.
  19. 2025 Lovejoy WR Daylan McCutcheon departs Austin for home after his official visit to Texas. Was hosted by WR DeAndre Moore on the trip. Heads to Florida State next week, the school presumed to be the favorite at the moment. McCutcheon said he had a blast on campus, especially for the Tank Davis boxing match last night with the team.
  20. 2025 Jasper TE Kiotti Armstrong has shut things down and committed to Texas A&M. The talented tight end was on campus in College Station this weekend and the Aggies did enough to earn his commitment. Armstrong was scheduled to visit Texas for an official visit the week of June 21–23, though that trip remains uncertain at the moment. Texas still has Emaree Winston in the fold, and will host him and Nick Townsend next week for an OV as well.
  21. OTF believes Conroe (Texas) High 4-star CB Dorian Brew will make a mid-week OV to Texas next week. Horns OV sandwiched between Oregon and Ohio State weekend OV’s
  22. OTF was told Tuesday night that Conroe (Texas) High 4-star CB Dorian Brew remained in talks with Texas on an official visit, but had yet to finalize a date. As of last night, Brew was not expected to be in Austin this weekend. He currently has Oregon scheduled for this weekend. Brew has had Ohio State on the scheduled June 21-23 for a while.
  23. Hook ‘Em! Texas has earned a commitment from 2025 Fort Bend Marshall CB Caleb Chester following his official visit to Texas last weekend. The Longhorns led for the 6-foot-1 cornerback coming into the weekend and made a strong enough impression on the visit for Chester to shut things down for good. Chester was slated to officially visit Texas A&M and Arkansas over the next two weekends, so for the Longhorns to get him to shut things down was quite the victory. Chester brings great length and athleticism out wide. There is plenty to like on tape and still room for development for the next level. Of course, the addition of Chester to the 2025 class helps the Longhorns with 2026 DB Isaiah Williams and LB Noriel Dominguez as well. Texas is up to 11 commits in the class with two massive official visit weekends slate for the next two weeks as well. View full news story
  24. Note on Michael Terry III San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights 4-star athlete Michael Terry III will begin his OV to Texas A&M earlier than expected. This will not be a full weekend OV. The Terry family is scheduled to arrive in College Station today/tonight, and have the two day visit Thursday through Saturday. Texas A&M has taken the Thursday through Saturday approach with a few prospects in the 2025 cycle. Notes Terry and family have been in contact with Texas multiple times since the OV. Texas has reiterated that the 6-3, 217 pounder has a spot in the Texas class all the way until signing day in December if he waits to make a decision. Texas, Texas A&M and Nebraska all remain squarely in the mix. Terry and family are not in a rush to make a decision, There remains talk in the family about a fall decision. That is subject to change, of course, as many prospects end up backing off that timeline and committing prior to senior season. The NIL part of the recruitment has yet to truly begin.
  25. Of course, the addition of Chester to the 2025 class helps the Longhorns with 2026 DB Isaiah Williams and LB Noriel Dominguez as well. Texas is up to 11 commits in the class with two massive official visit weekends slate for the next two weeks as well.
