Texas is the only SEC school that won’t play an FCS opponent in 2024

Of the 134 FBS programs, only 15 won’t play an FCS school for the 2024 season. The Longhorns are one of those. They’re also the only SEC school who won’t play an FCS opponent in 2024.

The others: Arizona State, Houston, Jacksonville State, Miami (OH), Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Sam Houston, Temple, UCLA, USC and Virginia Tech.

UTSA is going to be a fun game. Looking back at that 2022 game, UTSA ran 25 more offensive plays and had 13 more minutes of possession yet lost by 21.

Game was tied at halftime.

Potential trap game/let down spot following the Michigan game. Luckily, the Texas roster will look completely different talent wise than what it did a couple of seasons ago.

No Texas Alumni wants to attend a patsy game for over a couple hundred dollars for a seat.  Texas fans want to see a competitive game, not another Spring Practice Game.

Hell, just load up the non conference schedule with Ohio State, Michigan, USC and Notre Dame and then fire the coach if he doesn’t win them all.

There is a reason that Georgia and Alabama have been successful and won several titles recently. They are good and also not dumb. They plan a cupcake towards the end of the season. Not because they are afraid, but because the SEC schedule is bruising and it gives them a chance to heal up.

But somehow Texas, who hasn’t won a NC since 2005 and only 2 NC in the past 50 years has it all figured out. No wonder everyone hates us.

We’re more worried about spending $200 unless it’s a marquee game. Nothing screams beta and more than that.

I wouldn't say it's beta, but I totally agree with the take that it's a chance to rest your starters and heal up to gear up for the post season, especially with the new playoff format and more games.  It also gives your subs a chance to get good playing time later in the season when they've developed over the season.

Also, as a fan, I enjoy seeing Texas dominate just as much as I enjoy a competitive win.

Texas athletics more worried about filling seats and games being televised.  Texas alums want to know the Slippery Rock State score, but do not want to actually see Slippery Rock play Texas in DKR.
