AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas women's basketball head coach Vic Schaefer has been named to the 2025 Werner Ladder Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year Watch List presented by AXIA Time, the Atlanta Tipoff Club/Naismith Awards announced on Wednesday.

Schaefer has guided Texas to a 26-2 record and a 12-1 mark in the SEC this season, the Longhorns first season in the SEC. Following a loss to South Carolina on Jan. 12, the Longhorns have won 10 straight games.

Texas, No. 2 in the latest Associated Press Poll, became the first women's college basketball team in 20 years to win three straight games against top-10 teams with wins over No. 2 South Carolina, No. 8 Kentucky and No. 5 LSU.

This season the Longhorns have nine wins against AP top-25 teams, five wins against AP top-10 teams and the most quad one wins of any team in the country with 13.

Schaefer has guided teams to 20 or more wins in a season in 12 straight years and has 10 seasons of 25 or more wins. As his teams regularly improve over the course of the season, since the 2021-22 season, his teams are 44-9 in the months of February and March.
