Daniel's winning mark of 8.16m (26-9.25) not only made him the first male Longhorn to win an NCAA indoor long jump title, but also broke Marquise Goodwin's 14-year school record. Three of Daniel's marks would have won the title – his second-round jump of 7.97m and his fourth-round jump of 8.11m. The jump of 8.16m also took down the Trinidad and Tobago national indoor record. Solomon Washington was 11th in the long jump with his mark of 7.45m (24-5.50). Daniel's win marks the fourth-straight season the Longhorns have won an event at the NCAA Championships. 2022 saw the Longhorns claim the distance medley relay, Yusuf Bizimana won the 800-meter in 2023 and Leo Neugebauer won the heptathlon in 2024. Sophomore Aaliyah Foster finished ninth in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.37m (20-10.75). Foster opened the meet with a jump of 6.31m (20-8.50) and improved to her best jump in the second at 6.37m. Her ninth-place finish gave Foster USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors. It's also the second-straight season Foster reached the indoor championships. Sophomore Nina Ndubuisi will compete in tomorrow's women's shot put and the women's 4x400-meter relay will conclude the competition. Edited Saturday at 04:04 PM by GoHorns1 2 Quote
