Was the kid a bad kid at the time of recruitment?? Likely not. That’s not on Oates. There is a lot more to this just saying… Well Oates recruited a kid who became a bad apple. Sark recruited that Keithron Lee kid while at Texas… he had an armed robbery im pretty sure. Is he bad? UT lets in kids to the University who end up doing bad things. Is the university bad? The Oates thing doesn’t seem to be a recurring issue so it’s a non issue. Money is not an issue right now. More money than ever is flowing in and the anthletic department is making 15 ish million off the playoffs right now.

There are always bad apples. You can probably go back and look at all great coaches past/teams. There is guaranteed to be blemishes. The kid on the team was a bad person. Oates did what he needed to do. Nothing he did was bad.

The university is also making a crap ton of money right now with these playoffs. Texas is likely making 15ish million by just being in the playoffs. Texas will figure it out

Is Brandon Miller in jail? Did Oates murder someone? Did he do something inappropriate? He made a statement. He is an elite coach.

Then who do you hire? Schloss has a past well known to Fort Worth people. We hired Jeff Banks. We hired Sark given his past. Past issues are a non issue for Texas as long as you do right while at Texasz Oates defended a player. I’m sure if more came out he would have not done so, but it didn’t. Who cares? People like you would also say Texas wouldn’t hire a guy like Scott Drew because he is too religious. By those standards, we can’t hire a guy who loves god or a guy who defended a player until proven guilty or not guilty. Winning matters. The University has an all time record of applicants this fall. That is due to winning. Texas can make money and benefit the university by making elite hires.
