About Me

  1. OTF was told Tuesday night that Conroe (Texas) High 4-star CB Dorian Brew remained in talks with Texas on an official visit, but had yet to finalize a date. As of last night, Brew was not expected to be in Austin this weekend. He currently has Oregon scheduled for this weekend. Brew has had Ohio State on the scheduled June 21-23 for a while.
  2. Hook ‘Em! Texas has earned a commitment from 2025 Fort Bend Marshall CB Caleb Chester following his official visit to Texas last weekend. The Longhorns led for the 6-foot-1 cornerback coming into the weekend and made a strong enough impression on the visit for Chester to shut things down for good. Chester was slated to officially visit Texas A&M and Arkansas over the next two weekends, so for the Longhorns to get him to shut things down was quite the victory. Chester brings great length and athleticism out wide. There is plenty to like on tape and still room for development for the next level. Of course, the addition of Chester to the 2025 class helps the Longhorns with 2026 DB Isaiah Williams and LB Noriel Dominguez as well. Texas is up to 11 commits in the class with two massive official visit weekends slate for the next two weeks as well. View full news story
  3. Note on Michael Terry III San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights 4-star athlete Michael Terry III will begin his OV to Texas A&M earlier than expected. This will not be a full weekend OV. The Terry family is scheduled to arrive in College Station today/tonight, and have the two day visit Thursday through Saturday. Texas A&M has taken the Thursday through Saturday approach with a few prospects in the 2025 cycle. Notes Terry and family have been in contact with Texas multiple times since the OV. Texas has reiterated that the 6-3, 217 pounder has a spot in the Texas class all the way until signing day in December if he waits to make a decision. Texas, Texas A&M and Nebraska all remain squarely in the mix. Terry and family are not in a rush to make a decision, There remains talk in the family about a fall decision. That is subject to change, of course, as many prospects end up backing off that timeline and committing prior to senior season. The NIL part of the recruitment has yet to truly begin.

  5. 2025 Oaks Christian EDGE Hayden Lowe has committed to USC following his official visit this weekend. Texas was scheduled to receive an official visit June 14-16 and had previously been considered a school to watch in this recruitment. It remains to be seen if that visit will still take place.
  6. Cocoa (Fla.) High 4-star EDGE & FSU commit Javion Hilson told OTF that FSU and Texas are the top two after his OV to Austin.
  7. Texas A&M has snagged a commitment from Lancaster, CA cornerback Adonyss Currie. Texas had yet to get Currie onto campus for a visit, but I do believe there was an attempt to push for Currie at some point in this cycle. While Currie joins the Texas A&M class, that does not mean the Longhorns are facing a shape up on their cornerback board. Dorian Brew, Kade Phillips, and Aidan Anding remain on the table for Texas moving forward.
  8. With the commitments of Jordan and Devin Coleman, the June official visitors list has been trimmed. Dickinson (Texas) High IOL Tyler Thomas will no longer visit Texas. Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake OL Juan Gaston is still being rumored to be visiting Texas. That is not happening.
  9. Texas QB commit KJ Lacey dropped his highlights from his spring game at Saraland HS. Only four drives, but three ended up in touchdowns and Lacey finished with an impressive stat line on the afternoon. Lacey is set to officially visit Texas June 21–23.
  10. The Big 12 conference has announced its first and second team All-Conference rosters following the conclusion of the regular season. 12. I made the quick trip over to Austin Westlake tonight for the Chaps' spring game. The program that has produced Colton Vasek, Ethan Burke, Michael Taaffe and Connor Robertson has been friendly to the Longhorns in recent years. While there may not be that big Longhorns target on the roster this season, there remains plenty of talent here. *** 2025 LB Elliott Schaper Official visits set to Duke (May 31) and Wisconsin (June 7) at the moment. Holds 13 offers. Duke was in attendance this evening. 2025 EDGE Connor Vasek The younger brother of Colton Vasek has seen his recruitment grow this spring. Vasek holds 15 offers, receiving most of his interest from the Ivy's and academies. 2025 EDGE Cullen Devine Devine earned an Air Force offer this afternoon, his first D1 offer thus far. Devine is a super active 6-foot-3-inch defensive line prospect that can spin down into the three-tech if needed. 2026 QB Rees Wise I visited with Wise back in the winter when the Westlake QBs were undergoing their QB bootcamp. Wise stands 6-foot-2 and has earned offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, North Texas and several others. 2026 WR Brody Wilhelm The 6-foot-5 wide receiver has an Air Force offer under his belt and was a star today during the spring game. 2026 DL Maddox Flynt I am a huge fan of the potential Flynt possesses after seeing him in the weight room in the winter. Flynt was the District 26-6A Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2023 and currently sits right around 275 pounds.
  13. Former Texas CB Terrance Brooks has found his new home for the 2024 season. Brooks has committed to Illinois following his departure from the Texas Football program. It was reported that both Michigan and USC were interested in Brooks, though it is the Fighting Illini who come away with the portal victory. Best of luck to Terrance Brooks in the B1G!
  14. I’m at Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage today to watch 2026 QB target Dia Bell 6-2, 195, 9.75 inch hand
  15. Bastrop is only about 30 minutes away from Austin so it was no surprise to see some Texas representation yesterday in attendance for a practice session. I have talked about 2027 QB Weston Nielsen at length in the past, but I want to focus on who else I was able to watch in-person yesterday. *** Perhaps a new name to Texas recruiting circles in 2025 DB Ramonz Adams. The current Texas Tech commit is coming off of a silver medal in the triple jump at the UIL Texas State Finals meet in Austin a week ago. Adams is a six-foot cornerback that saw time yesterday at safety as well. The Bastrop cornerback is very springy and his athleticism is very evident when on the field. I talked to him a bit after practice and despite Terry Joseph being in attendance for the practice, Adams told me he has not talked with Texas all too much so far. From previous trips to Bastrop, I know Adams is locked in with his commitment at the moment and is excited for his official visit to Lubbock June 7-9 – his only official visit locked in at the moment. *** Meanwhile on the defensive line front, 2026 DL Tiki Hola is shaping up to be one of, if not the, top defensive linemen in the state of Texas for the 2026 class. Hola is up to 280 pounds and sees time along the line anywhere from over the nose to out wide at edge. Having seen Hola in both the weight room and now on the field, it is really impressive the flexibility he brings to his frame. There is still plenty of room for his body to fill out and redistribute weight up to the top half. I think there is potential here for Hola to be a top ten player in the state of Texas for the next cycle. Hola has plans to visit Ohio State and Alabama for a camp during the month of June. He was on campus for a spring practice April 11 and the Longhorns are a school that are comfortably in the top group of his contenders at the moment.
  16. Portal Kombat: Two hoops transfers to know New Mexico freshman 6-9 forward JT Toppin is a name to know for Texas fans. Toppin had a tremendous freshman campaign averaging 12.4 points and 9.1 rebounds in 36 games, including 35 starts. He's the younger brother of Obi Toppin. This should be considered a very tough recruitment. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5143604/jt-toppin UCLA freshman big man Berke Buyuktuncel hit the portal today, and he's a name to know for Texas fans. The 6-9, 240 pound power forward is from Turkey, and the Horns have someone on staff (yep, that high flyer) that has connections to players in Turkey. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/5174982/berke-buyuktuncel

  18. the portal. I was told on Tuesday that Jordan had decided to stay at Texas. Obviously, that decision flipped from what I was told yesterday. Jordan is a class of 2022 signee and was currently running 3rd team at the star position. Even though he was 3rd team, Jordan was considered a valuable member of the Texas secondary. Jordan is the second member of the secondary to declare an intent to transfer in as many days. Returning starting cornerback Terrance Brooks announced a similar decision on Tuesday. 19. There were two major surprises and one pleasant one on Friday. First, T’Vondre was selected early on by the Tennessee Titans. The consensus view of Sweat slipping out of the early rounds apparently wasn’t one the Titans subscribed to despite Sweat’s DUI arrest two weeks ago. Second, Adonai Mitchell slid all the way to no. 52, likely largely on reports that Mitchell was difficult in practice at both Georgia and Texas. Mitchell will now head to Indianapolis where he’ll get a fresh start. And then the pleasant one… Jonathon Brooks became the second consecutive Longhorn to be selected the first running back in the NFL draft. He’s heading to Carolina. ** Anyone who thought Texas lost to a lesser talented Washington team needs to think twice, particularly on offense. Through the first three rounds, UW has had its QB, three wide receivers and both offensive tackles already taken. ** Michigan currently leads with a total of seven players selected in the first. Texas sits at five thus far. The Wolverines might have as many as 13 players selected by the end of today. That’s even heavier attrition than Texas is likely to see. JT Sanders, Christian Jones and Jaylan Ford will all almost assuredly be drafted, which will give the Horns eight picks total for comparison. ** Good luck to Jordan Whittington, Ryan Watts and Keilan Robinson today. Many think they are all on the fringe of being draft picks. View full news story
