Tolerance for college football woes is waning
HookemTexas replied to Junior's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I feel the same pains, granted I'm older than the target audience though I'm not retired yet. I stopped watching NFL when they were more worried about not playing football, I stopped the NBA when officiating decided the "stars" could literally break rules and not be penalized (double dribble, travel, palming, etc.) in addition to flopping worse than soccer players. MLB for some reason isn't as entertaining to me anymore. When I was a kid, I could name every single player on any of the major Houston teams (Oilers, Rockets, Astros). I listened on the radio when the TV was blacked out (Bill Worrell & Milo Hamilton). I still love Longhorn sports, but like many have said, the transfer and NIL have made it hard to have favorite players because they might be gone the next year. In the NIL fanbox, I got the autographed Wisner poster and Deandre Moore poster; I had ordered frames which and framed them, but those aren't going up on the wall now because it's a Longhorn wall. Change is inevitable, just what will make it on the wall will be more scarce now since there will be fewer players that stay at the school. For that reason, I believe if Arch is able to lead the team to a natty this year (even with all the transfers in), he'll be as beloved as Vince if not more by the burnt orange faithful. Thanks for reading my rambling on a Monday morning. - Today

I remember when his name got thrown around, that I was saying the reports seem to suggest he would stick with Indiana. I'm sure teams tried to woo him but Indiana has done really well in the portal and retained their coaches. I expect they'll be in the mix again in 2026. With our OL, we're just going to have trust in what we got. It's that simple at this point. Yes they missed one some IOL guys and couldn't woo other guys into the portal but it is what it is at this point.

Small excerpt from a much longer post: Offensive Line There is no avoiding this conversation. Sarkisian said it himself: “I think the offensive line is something that we’re going to address in the portal.” Everyone understood the offensive line was Texas’ weakest unit in 2025 and the position most in need of immediate upgrades. Texas needed to attack this spot with the same urgency it previously showed when pursuing defensive linemen. Interior players who represented clear, instant upgrades were the goal. So far, the inability to significantly upgrade the offensive line through the portal has been a major disappointment. Texas missed on every elite target it pursued. Bodies were added, but none who check the boxes the way Coleman, Brown, or Smoothers do. The only remaining hope is a last-second Hail Mary involving an offensive lineman from Indiana or Miami. Out of respect for the players Texas did sign, an F feels harsh. That said, it is hard to argue with anyone who lands there. Transfer portal grade: D

That was a damn good card to kick the year off with even with a few cancels. I can deal with the adds because of how much money paramount is gonna save me 🤣. And Gathje is that dude lol, but nobody current is beating Topuria

Plane owned by Texas Law Firm Arnold & Itkin has crashed in Maine after take off but also noted that plane could have been chartered out by someone else. These guys have had many interviews with Texas players. Praying everyone is safe but also read local reports saying no survivors.

Anwar going in dry on Flood over at OB.

no idea where people got the idea that this was a real possibility... mostly just someone going OMG that guy is from Texas! and everyone then getting on the hopium.. dont think there was ever any legit reporting that this was possible.

Lord willing, I’ll be at worship and won’t be doing Super Bowl Sunday, but I’ll share some things you might consider: - Bacon wrapped jalapeño but put a half (lengthways) piece of shrimp on top of cream cheese and under bacon - Hawaiian rolls sliders with ham/turkey/cheese - Mexican street corn on the cob - Crock pot chicken dip (cream cheese, green chilis, canned chicken) - Sausage balls - Loaded potato deviled eggs (bacon, chive, whipped potato mixed with yolks, top with sour cream, jalapeño slice, etc).

I usually go with whatever regional to the teams in it to tie it in. So prolly a chowder if Seattle and Pat's If LA, then a chowder and French dips. -

We usually do 1-3 different jalapeño popper recipes along with homemade dips, queso’s and chips. depending on the size of the group we do a “grazing table” charcuterie board on steroids is what I call it. -
