2027 Taven Epps Decommits from Texas
Tornado Alley replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Yeah, I don't get that. I wish the kid well and would love to have him back in the class if the coaches see that. 99.9% of us could not handle being a college football coach. We would ABSOLUTELY lose it during recruiting. It just shows the maturity, grace, and patience of these coaches. My years of being a Youth Pastor would pay GREAT dividends in that profession. It's not easy. -

That's awesome. As a native Lubbockite (I escaped), it makes me want to puke seeing Amarillo High get in 😭 If this wasn't done at an Allsup's, it should be a required re-flip. Travesty. -
The blitzes the A&M defense ran against Missouri were simple in concept, but the second blitzer through the same gap puts the OG/C in conflict. The DL creates a gap between the OG/OC by slanting away from it, and Elko was having 2 guys run through the same A gap with a slight delay for the second blitzer due to starting slightly deeper. The RB takes the "most immediate" threat to the QB (usually the first one he sees, leaving the second blitzer running full speed at the QB unless the OG or OC manage to slow him down. Missouri's OL didn't come up with a solution.

We do the same thing in our local rec league football (ages K-6th grade). The coaches and commissioners meet up at the field house 30 minutes following the conclusion of the last game. A few years ago we had to break a 5-way tie! 🤪 -

Wish we could still celebrate the McDonald's in Plainview -
Long time from signing day for this guy and he was visiting a bunch of other places that weren’t Texas. If he’s commits to a rival after being committed here, then you know, break a leg and all that.

A little surprised on this one since he's a Cali kid. Any word on who is making the biggest move here?

Both to an extent. Texas didn’t let Endries or Watson see any other campuses because they basically trumped everyone else’s offer by a significant amount. The same could have been done for Pregnon, but wasn’t. That was an exceptionally bad choice by the staff. Obviously nothing they can do about it now, but it’s worth pointing out that it absolutely *could* have been done. If Pregnon went to Oregon because he liked it more, fine. But we should have treated his recruitment like Watson’s or Endries. Hindsight is 20/20, so it is what it is.
