  2. Holy Bevo, those computer nerds generating the FPI at ESPN surely do love themselves some Texas football (and SEC in general). The 2025 FPI projections dropped today and it's a Longhorn fan's wet dream. Texas Longhorns are ranked # 1 with a 22.2% chance of winning the championship. Georgia # 2, Bama # 4. Whatever happened to Clemson and Penn State, one might ask? It gets better, believe it or not. Best offense? Texas, followed by Georgia and Bama. Best defense? You know by now - Texas, followed by Georgia and Bama. Somehow I think this might be skewed just slightly towards the SEC. Finally, "Most anticipated games of 2025 based on projected FPI ratings" Texas plays in the top 2 (@Georgia and @Ohio State), 3 of the top 6 (@Florida), 4 of the top 9 (A&M), 5 of the top 13 (Oklahoma), 6 of the top 24 (@Kentucky). This seems just a little crazy to me. But I'm hoping they are right, especially about the championship. Link to article on ESPN Top teams by 2025 FPI National Championship odds Rank Team Conf. 3. What is the single most valuable position in all of team sports? I think it is pitcher in softball. In baseball and softball, defense can theoretically be (almost) reduced to one player: pitcher. Sure, you need the catcher, too. However, I’d argue the catcher’s job is relatively trivial until you have baserunners. So if the pitcher does his or job perfectly and is “unhittable”, I’d argue only an average to below average performance is required from the catcher and other defenders. Softball pitchers can pitch much more often than baseball pitchers, enhancing their value relative to baseball pitchers. Adding to this, pitchers (particularly softball pitchers) can also significantly contribute on the other side of the ball (unlike QBs in football, for instance). In other words: Tech’s $1M for Canady was well spent. What do y’all think?
  4. Today
  5. Jack I thought he was as well ! It’s definitely ridiculous it’s just now happening
  6. Frankly, I thought he was already in. Ridiculous that he's not.
  7. That’s exactly what I thought !
  8. Hamp is worthy of discussion on the Mr. Rushmore of college DTs.
  9. About damn time!
  10. Do you think Miller will bring in two more international players with this late of a date adding players? Lots of fiah left in the sea?
  11. Casey definitely should be a inanimous hall of famer. He was a beast.
  12. I read Casey Thompson for a second. Guy has to have exhausted his eligibility by now.
  13. Casey Hampton is on the college football HOF ballot !
  14. Blake could you see Borba switching to first full time if he comes back next season ?
  15. Couple of UTSA freshmen I wouldn’t mind buying
  16. By the way, that was on TNT. Hubie Brown said that if Jerry made the trade, it had to be a good deal because Jerry didn't make bad deals.
  17. Excited to see this matchup! Gonna be fun to watch Kavan and the Horns bring their best. Hook em! 🐂🧡🤘🏼
  18. Greatest steal in NBA history: West traded Vlade Divac for the draft rights to Kobe. I remember watching the 1996 NBA draft and pundits saying West had lost it. "You can't trade an All-Star center for a 17 year old high school guard."
  19. Jerry West resigned as coach after this season and became the greatest GM in history.
  20. The announcers really were trying to sell that Canady went to Tech because they would work on her hitting. That may have been a factor, but I'm hard pressed to believe that the $1 mil was not the bigger factor. If Tech wins it, it's proven that in softball you can basically buy your championship.
  21. Texas and Texas Tech played twice in the Bevo Classic earlier this year: Texas beat Tech 2–1 in 9 innings. This was Kavan vs. Canady for all 9 innings. Texas then beat Tech again 9–0, in a game started by Kavan and Samantha Lincoln for Tech.
  22. No three point line. Real basketball. Jerry West coaching Kareem as the greatest player ever.
  23. Mike White has had Canady's number for some reason. Probably had more success against her than any other team in the country, even OU. Hopefully that trumps his propensity to come up short in big games at times. He's already gotten the Gasso money off his back by breaking tendency as Rod Babers would say. Can he reach the top of the mountain? Third time's a charm you would think.
  24. Kavan, Mitchell, Atwood and the Lady Longhorns are ready to win their first World Series! Longhorns are 3-0 against Canaday over past 2 seasons! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  25. I know I'm behind on this thread and I hope this doesn't sound like a repetitive question, but I know a few weeks ago there was some discussion on Coffee & Football about the staff wanting to add one more big minutes piece, I believe a CG, because there was a question about what a projected starting lineup would be and you said it was hard to say as of then because we didn't have that CG out of the portal yet... (I might have misheard). We wanted a CG that had size, could shoot from deep and was a multi-year starter. As you stated, we are still after those same traits, but I was wondering if the emergence of Simeon Wilcher and what we have planned for him has kind of changed the outlook on this last roster spot to go from potential starting CG out of the portal to a role player CG? Thanks!
  26. Definitely. I’ll add it to the OP later today for sure.
