Having though about it, I kind of agree. At first I really wanted these games but If losing them doesn't give you any wiggle room for games in the business section of your season than cancel them. Why bother playing them just so the NCAA can have big marquee games to market to the big networks. I'd rather be 10-2 than 9-3 and have ourselves a spot. Because that's what it comes down to, imo. If we still had the Florida and Georgia losses, they wouldn't be holding them against us. So I now agree with the sentiment, as much as I like the big game match ups, you lose more than you benefit.

Playoffs are definitely the bare minimum expectation every year

Yes. Had we played Sulross state instead of OSU we would be 10-2. These OOC games are dumb and Texas admin are idiots if we keep playing them under the current system And I do agree missing the playoffs is inexcusable.

With a 9 game SEC schedule, we will get plenty of big matchups. Get the big 12 and ACC on the phone or schedule cellar dwellers from the Big 10.

I think when I mention “development” years… we are beyond that. I understand you can’t win a natty every year but teams that recruit like we do (Bama, UGA, Ohio State) don’t have developmental years in Year 5. Playoffs or bust every year. CDC is the issue IMO.

Day and Kirby didn't win it all until year 6. Georgia missed the playoffs in 2023. Day and OSU also missed the playoffs in 2023 which was his 5th year so yeah he was rebuilding.

This needs to change, we need our expectations to be higher than ever. Not settling for what we have achieved in the last few years.

I hear you. But my point is assuming Texas was gonna win the natty knowing what was being replaced is just unrealistic in my eyes . I expected to at least be in the final 4, maybe even get to the title game. But Ohio st was always the team to beat and have shown no reason to think otherwise
