FOX CFB Hype Machine Gearing Up for 8/30
ArizonaLonghorn replied to CGG's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Highly confident in our defense. All three levels look solid, this could be the best D we've seen in decades at Texas. Hill is possibly the best LB in the nation and a returning All American. Taafe (S) made a few 2nd and 3rd team All American lists last year. Colin Simmons (EDGE) is probably the best player on the team, projected a top 5 NFL pick in 2 years. Lot of depth in the interior DL, maybe six deep right now. Plenty of talented young guys at most positions. We like our D a lot. On offense the WRs should be good (not as good as yours but good) but a bit thin on depth. TE - you got the # 1 transfer TE but we got the # 2 guy and think he'll catch a lot of balls. Behind him we lack experience but supposedly have talent. RB - returning 1,000 yard rusher with Wisner and a couple of talented backups, but no one knows when Baxter will be fully healthy. QB - we feel comfortable that Arch will play better than Sayin in this game, though the Heisman talk seems crazy right now. The biggest Q to me is the OL, after losing four starters. We'll see ... If our D is suffocating and our O doesn't make too many glaring mistakes we feel we can win, especially if we get a lead early and can unleash the pass rush. For you to win I think our OL needs to get confused or overrun at times and our young QB makes a key mistake or two (watch the first Georgia game for the nightmare scenario). Should be a great game and a key season indicator for both programs. -
Georgia actually has a weaker one from the rankings I’ve seen.

21 Days Until Kickoff — Who’s Your Favorite No. 21?
Blake Munroe replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I guess you could go Blake Gideon? Only other one I can come up with off the top of my head. I believe Ryan Niblett is the current No. 21. -

OL takes a step back in pass blocking but looks improved in run game. Receivers are unproven but i dont think it will be a huge issue. My two biggest concerns would be how the secondary looks, hard to loose the Thorpe winner and be the same. Have we solved the red zone scoring issue. Field goals will not be enough against OSU elite playmakers. -

Bobby predicted 10-2 with losses Ohio State and Florida I believe. Gerry, CJ, and Jeff were 11-1 with the only loss to Georgia. All predicted Texas in SEC Championship game.

For those of us who don't have an hour to watch, can someone summarize the predictions our boys made? What were the most surprising? The consensus? Thanks ...

Ohio State news and notes (Thursday 8:10 AM)
GQ03 replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
We're definitely fully aware of Klare and we'll have a stud transfer portal TE of our own in Jack Endries. I still think Texas (especially in game 1) will be able to rattle Sayin in his first start with what is imo the best pass rush in cfb. While your Smith, Klare, Tate, Innis, etc scare me those guys still need Sayin to get them the ball. Cutting off the head of the snake makes it much easier to neutralize all of those weapons. Think of the 2007 New England Patriots vs the NY Giants in the Super Bowl. As great as Brady's weapons in Moss, Welker & co. were the Giants rattled the great Tom Brady enough that it neutralized all of those great weapons. At the end of the year, I think Sayin and Ohio St will be much more dangerous but for game 1 of his career against this opponent, it's a bit of a tall task. -
I can relate. Long story short I was punished with 11 years in Oklahoma and that was 2013 to 2024.

Hopefully there wasn’t an injury in the scrimmage today that changed your prediction 🫣
-
So 9-3 or 10-2 call your shot Herry
-
Wouldn't be 11-1 if it were being shot tonight ... more than likely.

Let’s hear it -
No way Georgia loses to Tennessee. Doubt they lose to Alabama especially if Alabama loses to FSU. Which in no world is that one happening
