Florida? Really?
Dread-headed Texan replied to Dread-headed Texan's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Florida may have played better, which brings me back to the qb, Dj really didn't. He was still making the same mistakes like holding the ball, not getting it out on time, misses routine throws, and taking sacks. If he holds the ball against Texas, this defense will have a historic day. -

In order, assuming they lose no more than one game along the way, the biggest threats to Texas winning the conference and winning it all are Georgia and Ohio State. Penn State, like Clemson has a very experienced roster, but have to see how PSU performs against Oregon and Ohio State to determine if they can take that next step. Clemson will still win the ACC unless FSU, Miami, or Louisville rises to the occasion. I do not think Clemson matches up well with Texas. Still don't trust Brian Kelly to get it done, but he could take them to Atlanta and the CFP.

Florida? Really?
Dread-headed Texan replied to Dread-headed Texan's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I wouldn't go that far, but there's a tendency for our fanbase to not look at where a team is, or what they actually are, and judge them on who, what, and where the team we're going to face is. I'm not one who thinks Texas should go undefeated every year, but most times I'm in the ballpark of where the team will finish. Even with the loss last week my expectations of a SEC ship and Natty haven't moved. And if we're going to reach those goals, in my opinion Florida isn't a team that scares me. LSU, OSU, UGA, and to some extent Clemson does. -
Florida played much better after the Texas game last with a healthy Lagway. Florida was undefeated after the Texas game beating 2 ranked teams and easily Winn its bowl game.

I don’t think any SEC team can keep up with Texas once Arch calms down. Some wouldn’t even score on Texas.

Florida? Really?

Not only does Florida have to do everything right, Texas has to shoot themselves in the foot. And Sunbelt Billy is still the coach. I think most here would say that the best teams in the SEC are Texas, UGA, and LSU. If we're the team we think, we're not worried about Florida. If we are we're closer to Ole Miss than we are to Georgia. -
Florida? Really?
Dread-headed Texan replied to Dread-headed Texan's topic in On Texas Football Forum
You really think that? Go back and watch the game. Lagway had like one really good drive after that it was four and outside even before he got injured. -
Florida has very talented starters, but they don't have the depth of Texas, OSU or Georgia. Florida can beat Texas, but they must have almost everything go right.
-
Last year Georgia would have lost to them if Lagway didn’t get hurt, I don’t think you appreciate how much different that team is when Lagway is on the field.

We will see. Florida may be talented, but they aren't OSU talented, or UGA talented, and if we can't curb stomp them, then we shouldn't be talking playoffs or SEC championship. -
Well again, I think Florida is very talented. Whether Lagway had great numbers or not isn't the point. That roster on both sides of the ball is better this year than it was last year.

Chase Daniels echos Arch will be fine

Yeah… Just saw this analysis cross posted to x. Really highlights the tremendous potential that he already has. He just needs more reps at this point. -
Florida? Really?
Dread-headed Texan replied to Dread-headed Texan's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Not comparing the two, but I am asking would you be less confident if you were facing a team with a qb with those numbers? -
The talent on Florida's roster vs. that of Miss State isn't in the same stratosphere. That's why.

Florida? Really?
Dread-headed Texan replied to Dread-headed Texan's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Lagway might be able to sling it but asking him to play on time and in rhythm is or has been a tall task. I'm not even worried about how much Texas scored last year, I'm talking about Lagway who has 12tds-9ints, 50% passer, and can't stay healthy. If Texas was facing a Mississippi State qb with that history, we'd be licking our chops. So why does it make a difference that it's Florida? -
Florida has plenty of talent this year with a quarterback that can sling the ball vertically down field and a running back who is a handful to take down. Texas put up 49 on Florida a year ago when the Gators started CB4 and CB5. It will be a much tougher game in The Swamp.

It trips me out that some fans seem to really be worried about Florida. Why? If the knock on Arch was let's seem him against a good defense then what do yall think Lagway is going to look like against Texas. Are we judging Florida on what they did to LIU at home? Lagway was really tearing up UGA either. Or if you want to bring up the LSU you game, 🤣, he was 50% against one of the worst defenses in the SEC. So far Lagway is barely a 50% passer against any defense with a pulse. Florida v Texas won't be close and I don't care if the game is played on the moon.
