The 2023 recruits in the defensive back room are close, Muhammad said. It’s a connection those guys value.

“He has adjusted to corner well.” Muhammad says of Jaylon Guilbeau.

“Fanatical effort” was used by Muhammad to describe the play of freshman CB Graceson Littleton.

Muhammad smiled big when reminded Texas held Jeremiah Smith to one catch for three yards in the Cotton Bowl. ”It was a team effort,” he said.

Muhammad on whether or not the he views the 2025 season as a contract year: “I don’t want to think too much about it… but I’ve got that in mind.”

Muhammad was asked if this was a contract year for him. Muhammad says he doesn't want to speak too much on that now, but I got it in mind.

Winning a national championship is the goal, but Lefau said Texas is a team that’s focused on the process. Sark has compared it to climbing a mountain, and Lefau said they’re taking things one step at a time en route to the summit.

Lefau says CJ Baxter is coming along well. The staff is doing a fine job of not rushing him back into action before he is 100% according to Lefau. But Lefau says he expects him to pick up where he left off.

Even though the coaches are easing CJ Baxter back into the mix, “he’s picked up where he left off,” Lefau said.

“There’s not a lot of tight ends who want to catch and run routes,” Lefau said Jack Endries. “He’s good at both.”

Lefau said Brad Spence is a “physical, violent player.”

“I’m thankful for Ty, because he pushes us every day. He brings the juice.” Lefau on Tyanthony Smith.

Lefau says Trey Moore has adopted the playbook very well at linebacker. Says he has put in a ton of work off the practice field to get to where he needs to be before the season begins.

Liona Lefau says “Wisner can talk (smack) but it brings the defense the juice” Says it brings another level of competitiveness to the defense and those head to head practice periods.
