Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted April 10 Moderators Share Posted April 10 We had a topic on this before ... but it's about to get real https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39915636/adam-silver-raptors-jontay-porter-face-permanent-ban
Hank Kingsley
Probably the right move, but Adam Silver acting all high and mighty about this is laughable considering how much the NBA has attached itself to legal gambling sites.
Ronnie Barnhardt
I think it was the gambling sites that tipped off the NBA?

I agree, when betting is legitimized and institutionalized by the sanctioning bodies of all sports and celebrated on ESPN and even local news, why are we surprised when players get involved?

Just so we're clear here, are you espousing the notion that this isn't a grown man's fault for his own idiotic decisions, but instead, it's all these big meanie businesses that conspired together that forced said idiot to make these decisions? "Gee, I've known since childhood that betting on a sport that I'm currently playing in could lead to a lifetime ban, and, it makes it even worse if I bet for or against myself and my team, but gosh dangit, ESPN and the NBA do have relationships with legal gambling sites. That must make it all okay, so I am going all in on myself! Prop bets on me for everyone!" Right.

Crazy thing he was betting against himself and pulled himself out of both of the games so under bets were hit. As a nuggets fan, just hoping his bro isn't involved at all but he has serious cold spell runs. Hard not to think of possible point shaving with him now.
