Texas adds Vanderbilt transfer guard

The Texas Longhorns added one more perimeter player to the roster Monday. Vanderbilt transfer 6-6 guard Malik Presley (San Marcos, Texas/High) announced he will join the Texas program.

Presley will provide depth in 2024-25, and will fight for minutes in the two years following. Presley averaged 2.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists as a freshman.. He appeared in 26 games with five starts in 2023-24.

Presley continues the Texas goal of having bigger options in the backcourt moving forward. He's the second 6-6 left handed guard to join the program out of the portal.

Gerry do you expect Nic Codie to be ready to roll for the start of the season or do you think he probably won't be healthy until January-ish? I'm hoping that Texas is pursuing another player out of the portal who can play minutes at the 4 behind Jayson Kent.

Not 100% sure. Even if he is, he needs some time IMO.

Texas is looking for another big for sure. Rytis was that swing forward, and they wanted him badly.

I had no idea that Jerry Stackhouse was: (1) in coaching, (2) a D1 coach, (3) had been at Vandy for FIVE years, or (4) that he has now been fired.  Carry on.

Yeah, supposedly he wanted to put hands on Beard for what he felt was tampering with Disu.
