Three games of interest for bubble watchers in the ACC.  Both UNC and Pitt are on steep slides in the matrix.  Pitt is on a four game losing streak in conference and plays @ Syracuse, which is still without Donnie Freeman and will be for some time because he still isn't putting weight on his injured leg.   UNC hosts conference doormat Boston College.  SMU is @ NC State.  SMU is on the outside looking in but getting some votes in the matrix.  I don't quite understand that because it hasn't been able to compete with the better teams in the conference (0-3, losing by a combined 67 points to Duke, Louisville, and UNC with 2 of the games at home).

South Carolina, looking for its first conference win, hosts Mississippi State today.

Bubble team Vandy hosts Kentucky.

Georgia, coming off really tough losses to Auburn and @ Arky, heads to Florida.  Pomeroy gives it the second lowest chance to win in the conference today, behind only LSU playing in Tuscaloosa.

Mississippi tries to bounce back in Columbia against Missouri.  Missouri is in a stretch of games in which it gets to prove if it is real or not.  It is 3-0 at home in conference, but it hasn't played anyone better than Vandy or Arky there so fa in conference, eve if it did beat Kansas there in December.  It plays Mississippi State, Tennessee, and A&M after today's game.  Mississippi has three straight home games coming up (Texas, Kentucky, Auburn).

Oklahoma goes to Arky in the only conference game that doesn't include at least one ranked team.

Auburn hosts Tennessee.  Auburn got a favorable schedule.  Only one game each against Tennessee and Florida, and both are in Auburn.  Ok, so it does have to play both Alabama and Mississippi twice.

Broome "has a chance to play tonight," but his minutes will be limited.

Lampkin had 12 rebounds for Syracuse when he went to the bench with a couple of minutes left in the first half.   Syracuse up 33-32 at the half.

SMU up 49-36 with 11:12 to go.

South Carolina went 6 minutes without making a  bucket.  13-10 MSU with 9:06 to go and shooting ft.

South Carolina pushed MSU into OT, but MSU won 65-60.

Vandy beat Kentucky 74-69.

Florida nuked Georgia by 30.  Georgia falls most definitely out of net top 30 with that loss.

SMU, Pitt, and UNC all won.  UNC had to come from behind in the last seconds of regulation to tie it and turn BC over on its last possession to force OT.

Missouri up 7, missed a three, had Bates take a shot to the head, missed the next attempt on the scramble, and Mississippi had about 30 second left.

So Pedulla came down and airballed a quick three.

Masterful thinking and discipline from a senior.  I can only imagine how much s*** Terry would have gotten had Larry done that.

38-31 Missouri at the half.  Missouri up 7/1 on offensive glass and 20/12 overall.

Missouri 83 Mississippi 75

Our first q1 win stays a q1 win for now.  Third straight loss for Beard.  Third straight game Mississippi was grossly outrebounded.  I imagine Beard will blow gaskets if that happens in Mississippi's next game.

Sorry, second q1 win.  Beating OU in Norman was our first.   We are now 3-5 in q1 games.

Arky looking like it did in the first half against Georgia, but it pulled that one out.

Houston got a steal and a three as time expired to force a second OT against Satan, I mean Self.

Sharp just slipped in transition d and made the steal with his butt on the floor.  Houston turned it over in their own posssession and the jaybirds got a breakaway for the layup and one.  Should have just let him score.  Houston up 2 with ball, make that up 4 after offensive rebound and putback, with 55 seconds left.

Looks like Adidas is going down.  Sharp shooting 2 with Houston up 6, make it 7, make it 8 with 24 seconds to go.

I don't get the love for St. Mary's.  It beat a mediocre Nebraska team on a neutral floor.  It torched a more mediocre USC team on a neutral floor.  It lost Arizona State, Boise State, and Utah State.  And it is net top 30?  Why for f's sake?

Losing to Wazzu right now.

We should jump UNC and Georgia in the matrix.  If St. Mary's loses, we'll jump it, too.  We'll probably move ahead of New Mexico, which barely beat UNLV, but that was in Vegas.

Houston 92 Devilspawn 86 final.

Bierce it’s almost like you don’t like Kansas or Coach Self? Do you think Wade can play now?

Now that is how you do a fast break SEC style.  Offensive team chucks a rock.  Carom is headed out of bounds, so offensive team tries to slam ball against defender but misses.  Ball heads toward middle of floor where picked up by defensive team that flies down the court and bricks a three, only for cutting player to grab rebound and put it in for a layup?

Sometimes ugly is beautiful.

Tennessee and Auburn tied.

Yeah.  Almost.

And I gave Taylor credit on the game thread.

Xavier beating UConn by 8 with 11 minutes left and UConn shooting ft.  Xavier in double bonus.  Xavier with 5 fouls.  Dan Hurley hasn't killed anyone.

LSU was tied at the half with Alabama despite shooting 39% from the field to Alabama's 50%, because it had a huge advantage on rebounds and took 10 more shots.   I hate to keep harping the subject, but possessions are a big part of basketball.

Xavier guard nearly loses dribble in silly behind the back move, drives, and gets rewarded with 2 ft on silly UConn foul.

Xavier up 10 with 5:01 and the ball.  Nope, lost it in transition.  UConn converts, and it is an 8 point game.

St. Mary's will survive.  I still think they are the same fraud as always.  Randy Bennett is a good coach, but St. Mary's has never played above seed, has twice played below seed, and one of the times it played to seed, it lost to a team seeded way below it.

Arky has caught up in the second half, just like it did against Georgia.  Game getting helter-skelter.  Three straight OU turnovers.

Hurley standing on the floor while Xavier trying to inbound.  Deadball foul called on UConn for holding.  I would have run a player into Hurley to draw the technical.

Xavier made the ft.  UConn failed to score.  76-72 Xavier.

And Hurley didn't kill anyone.

Is Liam still out with an injury?

Yes, and judging by their commericials, Warby Parker is still trying to redefine ugly as "chic."

This is really strange.  Ivisic went to the bench grabbing his shoulder.  No one is there tending to him, and he is in obvious pain.
