  1. Very encouraging for Clark. As a person that has snapped his Achilles tendon, the best news will be when we are hearing that he is cutting and violently changing directions.
  2. Yeah it’ll all depend on what Texas is willing to pay. Bobby said on Coffee and Football that if the “right guy” was there that the money would be there. I’m not sure what that number is. I would definitely think $5mil but the “right guy” might not move unless it’s closer to $7 or $8 mil. Otz and Muss both make around $4mil. Ben McCollum, however, is currently making $275k.
  3. I’d take TJ Otz all day long. Took over for a team who went 0-18 in conference and immediately had ISU in the tourney. He’ll have them in it 4 years in a row now with two sweet 16’s. It’s an unpopular pick on this board but I’d be fired up for Musselman. Yes he had a shitty last year at Arky but had two elite 8’s and one sweet 16 the rest of the time. Will Wade The closet “unproven” coach I’d be fired up for is McCollum. I only say unproven because it’s one year in D1 basketball. But he’s done a hell of a job in year one at Drake and has obviously won a bunch at the D2 level.
  4. This! Just because he’s our guy doesn’t mean he’s THE guy. He may be a great coach but damn it seems like a risk for a current program spiraling out of control. See last years OU football coaching staff as an example. Venables, Littrell, JJF and Murray. How’d that work out for them? Give me someone proven. Texas fans don’t need an NBA style to show up to Moody. Texas fans rally behind winners. Look at our WBB games.
  5. I’m with you on TJ and Wade. I’m surprised Miller was going to be the guy in 23 when he had similar baggage to Wade. Maybe because Miller wasn’t sanctioned and Wade was?
  6. It’s been a tough go since. Granted, he’s only in year one at USC. However, that moment in the tweet was ONLY two years ago. Heck, we were on our way to the elite 8 that same year. The Quin Snyder discussion got me thinking about Musselman. Not saying he can’t coach but it’s been 20 years since Snyder was at a collegiate program. Whereas, Musselman had things going two years ago and had been consistent in just about every year before. Coaches have down years. Even Beard’s teams took a step back after his title run in 19.
  7. Yeah, Texas-savvy isn’t what I was going for but I’m sure he’s still relatively familiar with the area after 5 years (having been in on the recruitments of Black, Holland and Morris). He had a couple of top 5 classes. He’d be more familiar with regional recruiting than a guy like Otzelberger or McCollum imo.
  8. Last year was definitely rough but it seems like coaches have those years every once in a while (Scott Drew this year). I was trying to think of relatively recent success guys who might be able to be had from a salary standpoint. I’m guessing guys like Oats, Pearl, Hurley, Few and Self are unlikely based on salary/buyout. ITT Ivey and Snyder have been discussed. I’m sure I’m leaving out a few but could anyone below be had? TJ Otzelberger, Eric Musselman, Tommy Lloyd, Mick Cronin, Dana Altman, Will Wade, Chris Jans, Greg McDermott, Brian Dutcher, Greg Guard
  9. @Gerry Hamilton Unless I’ve missed it, nobody has mentioned Eric Musselman. Why not him?? In five years at Arky, he had back to back elite 8’s and one sweet 16 (even as an 8 seed). He would’ve made the tourney in 2020 too but Covid happened. Two of those years, he lost to the eventual national champion. Not to mention, 3 tournament appearances at Nevada with one sweet 16. People keep mentioning Texas needing a head coach with energy for the fans and he would absolutely do that. Also, he was an elite recruiter and is familiar with the area. Texas had to roll with an unproven guy and it failed. He’s an elite recruiter with a good scheme, proven track record and a guy who would energize Texas BB.
  10. Go back and listen to Buchanan during the Schloss uprising. He’s a typical childish, weird aggie. And I can’t predict the future, but I highly doubt aggie usurps OU. I hate OU, but they figure out ways to be successful. Aggie is a lifetime of failure.
  11. Blake, can you expound on Tulo’s departure? I thought this would have been beneficial for everyone.
  12. Since they are both from east Texas, how does he compare to Taylor Tatum? I’m only curious because some OU fans seem to think Tatum will be their savior at RB.
  13. Gerry, I really appreciate all of your basketball knowledge. Assuming that he’s clear of any criminal misconduct, is Pop Isaacs a point guard that can help this roster?
  14. Thanks for the update CJ. Any opinions on how Ewers looked in front of scouts?
