    My favorite Christmas carol album is one recorded at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC in 1942 by the Robert Shaw Chorale. Besides having traditionally great arrangements but in mono, it was recorded when the world was under great threat from the fascist Axis powers and the future of the world was quite uncertain. One can feel the hope emanating from the performance. It elevates the performance above the cutesy post war radio songs that became popular Christmas culture. The album has been out of print for over half a century, unfortunately.

    When one watches the Game of the Century, one will see a play where the Arkansas WR is about to go by Steinmark and be wide open for a TD. Steinmark tackled him to draw the PI call to prevent the winning TD. His leg was removed about a week later. Only God knows how he played in that game.
