Yes, USC has a vastly improved defense this year and he lives in Cali, that would be more important than one game from a school with a 5-6 hour travel time away.
"Vastly improved" over a very low bar.

Maybe. But I have a feeling we will see a lot of jr declarations and the usual portal out for lack of PT this year. Plus the expanded roster. Could make for a juicy portal cycle.
But Sark played two walk on QB against ULM. 🤷♂️

I still think it was poor game management. If you want to go for it fine, that’s cool, but you never take points off the board. It’s not like we’re going for it from the 50 or something…we had 3 on the board 😔 I’m hoping he only decided to do this because it was Mississippi State. There’s absolutely no way you could do that against a better SEC opponent. Take the points Sark!
Sarkisian said at 4th and 3 to go, he had decided to go for it. When the offsides was called, that made it 4th and 3. Hence the acceptance and try.
He also chided himself in the third person.

Did not Casey Hampton say, "Leave him at QB?"

Burnt Orange Horn -- Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to a beautiful natural grass playing surface. I wonder if it will influence some recruiting decisions by certain players.
I'd rather think it'll affect practice schedules more than anything else.

My son goes to BSU so I watched him a lot last year. He got almost 1400 yds but he split carries with two other guys who had more than 200 carries between them. He is a real home run hitter who can break tackles on the way as you can see from those clips.
I wonder who is his son??

And he still had far less talent, lol. Also, wasn’t aware we had 4 players opt out last year, must’ve missed that tidbit.
Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you. It was the Alamo Bowl the first time DeBoer beat Sarkisian that four future NFL drafted Texas players opted out.
Also it was Ewers' first year.

Texas future opponents:
17. Oklahoma
5. Georgia
21. Texas A&M
All of them and Kentucky and Arkansas played hard too. No free rides left on the schedule. Not even Vanderbilt.

He’s elite, period. Smacked Sark two years in a row with far less talent.
First time 4 Texas NFL picks opted out, so ....

I hear that for sure. Bama had those three TO's against USF that kept it close, then turned on the afterburners.
I just can't have Texas 1 after Saturday. Mississippi State is a very bad football team. Like 2-10/3-9 bad. Arizona State rushed for about 300 yards on them. Toledo (23-28), Florida (26-28) and Texas (26-31) have completed 87% of passes on the Bulldogs the last three weeks. Mississippi State is really bad in pass pro, started a true freshman in his first game ... and Texas has to stop turning the ball over - they essentially had three Saturday counting a dropped TD pass by Cook on 3rd down. Texas got beat deep a few times too, but State can't really take advantage (one the WR lost ball looking back into the sun). Couldn't get off the field in the first half defensively. Wins are wins, but that was a bad game Saturday IMO.
But, Alabama could go do the same next week too. We shall see.
Lebby had MSU executing very well on offense. For a first year head coach, he did very well with who he had.

Im not giving Lebby that credit. Blue fumble, Johntay DROP. Likely 14 points there. It wasn't Lebby it was us
Lebby still called the correct game plan for them.

I'm sure Bobby will know the details of the plan to bring back a natural grass playing surface to DKR Memorial Stadium. I think it's been proposed for the '26 or '27 football season but I'm not sure of the year.
Planned for 2026.

Fasusi is young for his class. I was certainly no whiz back then on decision making.

I’m probably behind. Is the building being torn down the one the state historical commission was looking at possibly protecting? I have zero doubt Abbott and Eltife will get what they want but i thought there some potential hurdles.
It was the former University Junior High School. Architecturally insignificant but with emotional attachment for some. I think the façade of one exterior wall will be preserved.

Never thought I’d be the guy to say “hate to see those mature oaks go” but here I am…
University will probably find a way to monetize the cuts!
Same thing happened back in the early 70s when they cut down the oaks on the west side of the stadium to add the upper deck. Big protests on campus. It is real shame they were never replaced.

I'll go year by year but I'm also only listing top 10 matchups for this. Assuming 2024 Georgia/Texas being a 1/2 matchup or a top 5 matchup that will be the most recent.
2019: 9 Texas vs 6 LSU
2008: 1 Texas vs 6 Oklahoma St
2007: 2 Texas vs 1 Ohio St
2005: 2 Texas vs 10 Texas Tech
1996: 6 Texas vs 9 Notre Dame
1980: 10 Texas vs 6 Arkansas
1978: 8 Texas vs 3 Arkansas
1970: 1 Texas vs 4 Arkansas
1964: 1 Texas vs 8 Arkansas
1962: 1 Texas vs 7 Arkansas
1950: 7 Texas vs 1 SMU
1949: 10 Texas vs 9 RiceOnce you get to the early 1930s and 1920s it gets harder to find information but the above according to my quick research are the biggest games played in DKR history involving two top 10 rankings. There were a handful or more games with either Texas or the opponent ranked 11th. 1984 Texas vs Penn St a 1v4 matchup was a neutral site game.
Think you missed Arkansas 1964.

I'm tired of seeing grammarly ads. I've published numerous essays on the greatest Texas writer of all time: Cormac McCarthy and Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West. Here's an example. https://www.jstor.org/stable/42909395
Grammarly owns everything you write there.

Any signed contract would have been an illegal inducement under NCAA rules.

Why would the SEC schedule a home game in Austin weekend. That makes it more difficult, inconvenient and expensive for fans.
It wasn’t a secret that F1 was that weekend.
SEC full of sleepy college towns. F1 just not on their radar.

I’m not going anywhere near COTA but that doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be a complete and total s-show over there.
Between that and the game, Austin is going to be a mess. Fun, but still a mess. Do we know what time UGA v Texas is going to be?
Evening kick off.
