Is it time to fire the NCAA completely? The NCAA has been driving the bus from the back seat most of its existance and doesn't really provide any direction, enforcement or purpose. Is it time for the schools to decide via their own conference by laws how they want to participate. Certainly the ADs can figure out where their school fits in. If I'm in a conference that wants to spend money, travel cross country and play in fromt of TVs then these are the rules we agree too play by. Schools can self police the conference and, by contract, punish and expel those who don't want to comply with the agreed to conference rules. Smaller schools may decide to have a different emphasis and set an agenda to play regional games with other less funded (or sports driven) schools. The goal maybe to provide entertainment and some level of on campus interest to their school without going bankrupt. Number of scholarships, salary caps, number of games played, recruiting rules can all be set by conference contract. Hey, I'm East Compass Point University and I want to challenge you Goliath-let's set up a game in April! Why not? Most of the structure currently in place wouldn't really change without the NCAA. The difference is the schools and conferences would determine their own rules and champions- maybe they challenge either other in the end too! But, the schools would be able to determine their own paths without paying for non-existant services.

No conference should get a guaranteed number of teams. Things change over time and power shifts are going to happen-especially with NIL free agency. Texas Tech comes to mind. The biggest problem with the committe is it doesn't have a unified goal for the post season. Do you want the best match ups? The highest revenue generation? Need to include smaller schools to recognize their season? Want to repeat conference match ups in the post season? They don't know what they want to do. Does Texas Tech vs MIami draw any attention? Would fans travel to see Oregon vs OLe Miss this year? Does a Texas A&M rematch with Notre Dame have any appeal? At least the original bowl system found interesting match ups and competitive games. Here's a thought -market based rankings. Fans send cash to the NCAA to vote for their team. The two teams raising the most cash play for the championship. The next highest revenue teams play for 3rd and foulrth etc. Or, in th altemative market based system, there is only one post season game allowed per team after the season. There are no bowl/conference affiliations. Bowls bid for teams at the end of the season. The two teams attracting the highest dollar bowl play for the Championship, the next highest paid pair play for 3rd and 4th etc. Let TV bid on the bowls after the teams are announced. Bowls will have to compete for teams making the teams alot of $$$$. Since we are all about the money now let the market decide. Didn't get a bowl bid? Challenge someone and split the gate. (Don't get excited, this is clearly not a serious proposal, but it probably makes as much sense as a committee that has different ideas about what they are trying to do with the post season.) One serious thought about the post season, all teams should have the option of practicing until the final game is played and not just the ones in the playoffs. That practice time is a huge advantage to teams with an extended season.

Georgia is a tough match up for most teams . Texas has had one bad game this year in my opinion. They didn't really show up for the Florida game and I think that is because it was early in the year and they were young as a team. Georgia made a 4th and 1 that turned the the game around, but it was the the onside kick that has caused all the damage. Up until the onside kick Texas had some momentum and were making a come back. I'm not sure this team was ever going to be able to live up to the hype. The reality is the line was inexperienced and the receivers drop too many balls. That doesn't make them a bad team or make the program a bust. Losses to Ohio State and Georgia aren't the same as Maryland. Finish the season with two wins, absolutely doable, and its the Florida game that will haunt us. On another note, lost all respect for Kirby Smartass for his post game comments. He's getting his ass kicked in recruiting by Texas and attacks our NIL program. How many bags did Georgia drop before NIL arrived to get where they are? Cheering for the rambling wrecks from Georgia Tech since Charlotte won't be much of a bump on their schedule.

Horns were very consistent, great defense and special teams-no run game.

In overtime, on the road, not playing well, just LINE UP AND KICK THE FG. Why take a chance of a turn over or HOLDING CALL? The defense was absolutely amazing and Sark, who I rarely criticize, left his brilliance on the bus. Fortunate to come away with a win. Good kick Mr. Shipley.

I am guessing we have more UT alums at the auditing firm than any other school does. Maybe recruiting past the whistle becomes a new thing! Infractions are easy to find in a good audit. Ha!

And just like that- the class is half full again (pun intended). Getting both Turntine and Ojo was a little too much to expect. Welcome John.

Don't concede the Natty just yet. How many other teams have comparable pitching staffs and will they go injury free the rest of the year? The pitching has been great, but the offense can carry this team too. Hitting on all cylinders right now, enjoy the ride. They are playing good team ball.

He seems more interested in football. Could be he just likes to play it more. His baseball career to date is amazing. Hard to think he will continue at this same pace. The scouting report will be out on him soon, I hope he can make the necessary adjustments. to stay this hot

Sometimes they look like the Keystone Kops. Kaluma is keeping them in this so far.

The stand and watch offense leads to too many one on ones. Johnson isn't enough scoring by himself. I'm not really knowledgeable about basketball, but the guards are watching shots and not rebounding. It really hurt to lose Weaver. No one else moves too much. Gerry said at the beginning of the year this would be a good shooting team. They have to put it up to put it in. No one is able to finish inside the last couple games. Not much energy on the floor on either end. Seems they believe the season is over even though they could have made the tournament. We'll see if they play the second half or not.

I thought I'd turn on the basketball game, but this 5 man wrestling match is pretty interesting.

The ball moved around the floor better today and shooting percentage went up to 56% and 47% from three. Those percentages will win in any gym. We get into trouble when the offense is get it to Johnson and watch.

You might try hotels with stairs on the inside.

I agree with Southpaw. That backfield was amazing. Always expected them to make the play. A little off topic, but this play came to mind. Robin Sendlein covering a kick off for his first play as a freshman. He dove over the wall of three blockers making the tackle and separating his shoulder. Ran off the field with a big Hook'em on one arm and dragging the other arm behind him. You younger fans probably remember his son Lyle.
