  1. I get this feeling too. I know he can make rash decisions, but he just seems to be really settled in Oxford. I guess we will see. Also, I have an easier time seeing him at Florida than at LSU. Is he really a fit there? I mean he'd be better than Brian Kelly, but Florida just seems like the perfect fit if he were to leave Ole Miss.
  2. He is that! There's no denying that he can coach the heck out of a DLine
  3. This is my thought process as well. We keep hearing people talking about "rev share" as if the school truly has to stay within the $20.5 mil, but the third party deals are how many other schools like TTU, USC, Ohio State are getting around it. The numbers that are coming out right now do not back up the idea that you have to stay within the "rev share." But, unfortunately, that is what it seems Texas has mostly decided to do. When I hear "you can't pay everyone", I have to wonder if that is just a way of saying that Texas doesn't want to play in the third party world like many of the schools who seem to be landing and flipping higher rated prospects. I understand that a whole class is not going t one 4 and 5 stars, but I think we are past the days of "Sark stays on his guys". This week and all of the offers that have gone out to guys that weren't even on the board proves this.
  4. I mostly agree, although I could see Miss St as well being able to interpret all of that. What I would love more than anything is to see Coach O on the sidelines wearing blue and orange in Gainesville. The UF fans would have a blast with that! 🤣
  5. I have to admit that I thought about this during the game as well. However, there were enough positives in the game overall that it didn't feel quite like a Herman game.
  6. I like the way you think...
  7. This is absolutely the thing to be most critical of in this game. I will defend a lot of what others are crying and screaming about, but the RZ was bad and has been for several years now.
  8. That would be true if we actually couldn't run the ball. We ran the ball all game. We didn't punch it in at the 1. That's a problem. A big problem. But saying we couldn't figure out how to run the ball is just wrong.
  9. I don't totally agree with this. The first drive was actually pretty decent. Ran the ball really well. Arch was off on his passes. If he hits those passes instead of throwing the ball in the turf, the opening drive looks a lot different. It was the rest of the first and second quarters that playcalling was bad.
  10. Definitely some big positives: 1. Run D was impressive for the most part. 2. Only 1 big play given up. Guilbeau may be replaced by Black/Phillips before too much longer. 3. Offensive line was the best my eyes have seen in a long time for Texas. Arch wasn't under pressure for most of the game and opened good lanes for running. 4. Punter may be the second coming of Dickson. Some big concerns: 1. Arch not accurate at all for much of the game, especially the short and intermediate. 2. Receivers struggled mightily getting open for much of the game. 3. Not seeing much in terms of a true game breaker on the team. There's no one that looks like they can just take off and score at any time.
  11. I'm not a scout or expert, but my opinion is that this kid should not be a take for this class. I would like to hear @Gerry Hamilton or @Bobby Burton opinion of his talent level and running style. To me, he doesn't seem to separate, runs very upright, and doesn't show much lateral quickness. I could definitely be wrong and if the staff actually likes him and he somehow becomes part of this class, I will root for him. I just don't see him seeing the field at Texas.
  12. There was talk of this back in Dec/Jan when the kid transferred from Wisconsin to Miami, but now it's an actual thing. I'm not an attorney by any means, but it would seem that Wisconsin has a case here for upholding the NIL contract. If so, it could set some precedence for all the cases of kids taking a bag from one school, then jumping in the portal to a new school. I'm not smart enough to truly go down the rabbit hole to know all the impacts that this could have, but I'm sure someone on here is. Just thought I would throw it out there because I'm not seeing many people talk about it. Can't even find mention on if on ESPN. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/behind-the-wisconsin-v-miami-tampering-lawsuit-over-transfer-db-xavier-lucas-that-was-months-in-the-making/
  13. Don't hear many references to HPU. My wife and I both got our undergrads there. Small world.
  14. I don't remember watching James Patton play, but that picture with him about to hit an Arkansas QB is amazing. I think that alone makes him my favorite 92.
  15. Just watching these highlights, it looks like very good ball skills, good size, great hands and knows how to find holes in zone. Doesn't look like the stretch the field deep threat. Played a lot of slot at Stanford. I would love the take if we get him. Seems like a very reliable 3rd down and redzone threat. Kind of reminds me a bit of Jordan Whittington play style. Doesn't go down on first contact, fights through traffic and ultra reliable. We could use someone like him.
  16. Born and raised in Brownwood, TX. Moved to Austin in my early 20s and lived in the area for 14 years. Then moved to Salt Lake City 5 years ago and been here since.
  17. Well, I'm a little different as I live out west. Won't be doing anymore deer hunting this year, but I'm leaving tomorrow to take my son out for a cow elk hunt and then I have a late season cow elk hunt as well. First year in quite a while that I haven't put any deer or elk in the freezer yet, so I'm really hoping for one of these 2 hunts to work out. Good luck to everyone hunting. There are times I miss those Texas whitetails, but when you see your son put a nice elk on the ground like I did last year, it's hard to go back!
  18. I am rooting for Drayton at Temple, but the offense that was on display in this game was possibly one of the worst I have ever seen from a D1 program. I'm not really sure what they are working on but basic fundamentals are completely lacking. Open receivers that can't handle routine passes. QB making horrid decisions. Defense wasn't all that bad for a low level D1. But I don't even know how to classify what that offense was supposed to be.
  19. Thanks for the input. It's just strange because both UF and FSU have 3 national championships. It seems like apples and oranges to compare that to Texas and Aggie. But, my view is totally from an outsider that doesn't live there and understand the dynamics. What makes UF the 'flagship' in comparison?
  20. Hey @Gerry Hamilton. New member. I've been listening to the podcasts and youtube lives for a year and finally joined OTF. A question that I have been wondering for a number of years and never had someone with knowledge of Florida to ask about it. I know you lived there for a while and really covered the schools in that area. So, with the big game between Florida and Miami tomorrow, I'm interested in how the rivalries of the 3 big schools are viewed within the state. I assume that UF and FSU is the biggest rivalry. Outside of that, how are the rivalries between UF/Miami and FSU/Miami viewed? What would they compare to? Which is a bigger rivalry? I know that there is crazy history in the 90s between FSU/Miami. There was a very long streak of years between UF and Miami as well. Just curious about your thoughts with this. Also, with all 3 schools having history winning national championships, which school is really viewed as the 'flagship' type school of the state? Thanks for all you do! I look forward to learning a little about the dynamics within this state.
