    My daughter worked for Mack Brown her senior year at Texas. She said that Mack had the gift of remembering the names of thousands of people. I really wish I could do that.

    We were there at the same time. I had never witnessed anything comparable to Earl and I still haven't. He was an absolute beast and so quiet and humble. It was such a shame that Roosevelt Leaks hurt his knee before his senior year when Earl was a freshman.

    Leaks could have likely been our first Heisman winner if not for the spring training injury his senior year. He was that good.

    By the end of the 1968 season Texas was head and shoulders the best team in the nation. The backfield of Chris Gilbert, Ted Koy, Steve Worster and James Street were smoking with gas.

    Need a category for Team Leader that includes James Street, Major Applewhite, Marty Akins, etc. Anyone that doesn't have Earl Campbell listed at #1 never saw him play in person. You have to remember that DKR played him as a fullback for three seasons and he was injured his junior year. He was not played at tailback until his senior year under Fred Akers.

    He is counting 2" of hair in that photo. Kylar Murray is short. Baker Mayfield is short by NFL standards. I dislike short quarterbacks except for Donnie Wigginton.
