  1. You lay out a good argument. I think what is somewhat of a challenge is an “agent” with little to no experience helping derive a value. I see your free market approach and letting the buyer beware. My concern is a player getting bad advice and ending up without a school to play at. True, free wheel, but I see it in the same vein as offering players advice on how to secure and grow financially.
  2. I agree. I would be in favor of a one time free transfer everything else you sit out with the exception being a HC changes. The parity is also of concern. The day when the bottom half of the teams in each conference is made up of 80% first and second year players is a concern. Could athletes remain loyal to a school? Sure. But most will not be able to match the financial package and long term benefits of the other schools.
  3. Greetings OTF Community! I thought it might be interesting to get the communities input into their thoughts on the top issues they would like to see changed regarding the portal. All I ask are two things: Do not turn this into a meme fest. I love them, but really want you to use your words. And I think we have seen enough Joe Zura memes to last a lifetime. When you list a problem, justify it it and provide a solution as to why. It is easy to complain, yet harder to find solutions. I will offer an issue that I would like to see addressed to start things off: Agent certification- Whomever represents an athlete has to meet a certain criteria. No, they do not have to be a lawyer, but they have to have some knowledge of calculating market value, contract negotiations, cost benefit analysis, etc. What I want to avoid in the future is Uncle Slim or a buddy majoring in business in negotiating with staff who has no idea how to look at compensation and a university in total. Thanks for participating.
  4. We have had this approach in the past.. it was JUCO ball. in the near future a number of FBS schools will have 80% of their team made up of underclassman. The upper class man will move on to competitive programs. This will further divide college football between the haves and have nots. I don’t like this at all. Parity will never take place and the overall quality of the product will fall off. Sure there will be super teams, but not necessarily super conferences. Looking at the SEC and Big10, half their members would be classified as development schools. Eventually something has to give as BMD’s cannot afford to give donations just to NIL. Athletic directors are always going to need new facilities and improvements. College athletics is going to face some difficult days ahead.
  5. I cannot imagine the creative effort required to punch these out each week. My favorite video watch weekly, aside from Coffee and Football of course.
  6. Maybe because this is about your feelings. I find facts work much better.
  7. It helps when your average age is 23. Stronger, more mature, and focused on the last chance to play college ball will win out over 18 and 19 year old 5 stars.
  8. Based upon comments on the board, our coaches can neither recruit, close, or actually coach. Staff cannot evaluate talent, and we fail to money whip any recruit into signing. As a program we are approaching the eight circle of Hell. And cats and dogs are sleeping together.
  9. Sir, there will be no factual evidence brought to this emotional argument again. Stop it! Can’t you see the sky is falling, the flood waters rising, and Texas is doomed to mediocrity?
  10. All I know is that when I quit coaching and moved to a seat in the stands I instantly became so much smarter than any coach even with my limited access to what was happening daily. 😜
  11. How dare you sir, bring facts to an emotional argument.
  12. I was blessed to have lived in a time before the internet when it was a challenge to let so many people know about my miscounted opinions. And here we are today, folks crushing it daily.
  13. I have always thought that Selvin Young’s block was never given the credit it deserves in the touchdown. As great as VY was, I am not sure he scores without that block.
  14. With his departure, Texas loses a player tied for second in touchdown completions this year.😜
