  1. Maybe you will be right, maybe not. I trust the process and Day's QB development. There has not been any drop off from QB play. He has coached six consecutive Big Ten Quarterback of the Year honorees. JT Barrett, Haskins, Fields, Stroud, McCord, Howard. Will Sayin be next? Some Freshman can ball out right away, some can't.
  2. Great Game by the Long Horns, If I recall we have beaten you both times we have played in Texas. Once in Austin once in Arlington.
  3. No argument on your point there. Plenty of other options (Innis, Tate, Klare, RB screen) if Texas sells out to bracket Smith again. I do expect him to get at least 6-8 touches though. Reports from fall camp say he is bigger/stronger/faster this year. If Smith is a decoy and runs two DB's off every play that opens up a lot underneath to move chains.
  4. Don't be surprised if you see a healthy dose of Freshman Bo Jackson Saturday. I agree on Donaldson. Re: Peoples not enough reps to have an opinion yet. My biggest concern for the OSU RB's vs. Texas is how they do in pass pro.
  5. Agree, Saban wanted him, every QB Day has coached at OSU has made it to the league. Day said sayin reminds him a lot of CJ Stroud (not bad company to be compared to). His size does not bother me at all.
  6. Sure they may limit him throwing deep but you can not seriously think he is not going to be able to hit slants/ screens, quick digs and or outs to the other two receivers and or TE / RB's. Our interior OL is all back with 5 Star new starting Left tackle. Even with pressure you can double the DE and roll Sayin out. Not to mention the reason Sayin was a 5 star was his quick release and accuracy. He graded out slightly higher than Arch as a 5star.
  7. I understood what you said and the coverages you mentioned, last January the scheme was to bracket Smith with Safety help over the top. I am sure OSU will be creative in getting Smith free and the ball in his hands for a minimum 6-8 touches. Also you are correct in how well will Sayin pick up where the blitz is coming based on the pre snap initial read and what they switch to. 1. We can only hope OSU defense has thrown similar looks at him in fall camp. 2. We have to assume Patricia and crew have studied PK;s tendencies from different pre snap looks and he can audible out. 3. We have no idea what Sayin will do when he is flushed and forced to run for his life. What a great opener this will be.
  8. I hear what you are saying but Day is pretty Vanilla as are most coaches in his presser. I am not worried about offensive adjustments Day will have his hands on that. Re: Defensive adjustments we shall see if Patricia is worth his paycheck. Day and Sark seemed nothing but complimentary of the others players / teams and how tough a game it will be.
  9. I have been to well over 100 games in the Shoe, this may have been the loudest one I remember. Tress tried platooning Zwick and Smith at QB why I have no idea!!! Smith would come in for a drive get us points, Zwick would come in and get us 3 and out. Regardless heck of a game and season for the Long Horns.
  10. True enough, same can be said about the scoop and score. You have to play every down until the whistle blows. 75 yard play was blown coverage and a good scheme by Kelly. Scoop and score was Texas #56 just flat out getting beat off the line of scrimmage.
  11. Texas won't be able to double all three 5* receivers . You think you can hold Smith to one catch again 🙂
  12. If Day & Ohio State throw caution to the wind like the playoff run and get out to a fast start it could be a long day for Texas. During the regular season last year the Buckeyes started slow and usually turned it up in the 3rd quarter. Now we have a new OC, but I think Day most likely personally scripted the first 15 plays for Saturday and will be calling the majority of this game with Hartline telling him what coverages he is seeing from up in the Box.
  13. As they should be. OSU knows we are going to get their best shot. Looking forward to a heckuva a ball game.
  14. My take was Day says almost the same thing every press conference and he was not going to put anything out there to motivate Texas. Quiet confidence in the process and prep is what it is.
  15. Yup safe area and not a bad walk. The only issues any opposing fan would have if OSU loses would be a few hours post game in the Bars on High Street that will be filled with drunk students, but it is the other drunks (non students) in the bars that are more likely to act like arses. Overall you should have an enjoyable experience it is just a small few overzealous morons who give our fans a bad name.
  16. You bet. Guessing you are not setting up anything and just looking to have some pregame beers. I would recommend the Varsity club on Lane Ave across from the stadium food & Beverages. Get there early it gets crowded, but they have indoor/outdoor space. Also The stadium parking lot and or St johns Arena across the street from the stadium are good spots. Buckeye fans are not all a-holes. Walk up to one of the tailgates and ask if you can donate for some cocktails throw a $10 or $20 in the jar depending on how many of you there are and enjoy... I tailgated at a buddies set up outside the stadium with plenty of Long Horn fans prior to the OSU vs. Texas 05 game. That was a night game so the fans were pretty juiced remember well the Young to Sweed with 2 min left was the end for us. https://theoriginalvarsityclub.com/
  17. Columbus local and Buckeye fan here. You may want to look at Land Grant if you are bringing a larger crowd. Good luck Saturday hoping for a clean game and no injuries to either team. https://landgrantbrewing.com/beer-garden-season/ Go Bucks!
  18. Sarkisian 3-5 vs top ten teams. Day 15-8 vs top ten teams.
  19. No doubt Sayin a snot seen any meaningful snaps. Arch certainly has but the two starts he had were against horrible defenses. I posted his stats and those defenses rankings earlier in this thread. Regardless both should be ready as Iron sharpens iron and they are both getting reps against what should be top ten defenses all fall camp. I think Day will let Sayin sling it early and often with the playmakers he has to distribute to. Question is does he have enough time to read his progressions without getting rattled and can he play as close to mistake free football as possible. Find out soon.
  20. No doubt. Good Point, we lost 14 to the NFL draft. Lots of questions to be answered. Frankly, I wish we were playing you guys week 3 or 4 instead. Guessing Texas would prefer to also play us after a couple tune ups so your newer O-line has tie to gel. Minimize mistakes by the QB and solid play in the trenches or a critical turnover most likely decide the outcome.
  21. 7/87 keeps the chains moving, I call it a big game against the Long Horns. If Texas brackets Smith with help over the top again, then we will just check down to Tate/Klare/Innis or a RB. Plenty of talent to distribute the ball too. OSU is wide Receiver U. The challenge vs Texas is can we keep Sayin upright long enough to deliver the ball to our play makers and can Sayin delver on the big stage. Won't know until 8/30.... https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/40734302/how-ohio-state-became-wide-receiver-u
  22. By game time line will be a pick em.
  23. So sorry to hear that. I was at that game in 2005. One of the best games I have ever been to Young to Sweed at the end broke my heart but I have never heard the stadium as loud as that game. I hung out with Long Horn fans at my tailgate and they were great and fun to talk too. The issue is so many OSU fans that come to tailgate and do not go to the game get sauced all day and act like idiots. I would reccomend staying away from high street after the game mostly drunken students and other tailgaters in the bars. Go to Upper Arlington (nice Suburb five minutes from OSU campus or Grandview and there are plenty of Pubs/Bars you can watch games and have a meal/cocktails without being harassed by drunken idiots. Going to be aa great game.... Hoping for no injuries to either team and no BS calls by the Refs for either team.
  24. No doubt. Nothing but respect for the Long Horns.
