  1. I am going off what I have read Re: Klare as he will suit up for OSU for the first time on 8/30 but he is being compared to Bowers and a first round pick. Only time will tell. That is an upgrade for OSU at the TE position which will benefit a young QB. Tate had 7 catches for 87 yards vs Texas, he is also projected as a first round pick. Innis is new as a starter but was a 5 star recruit and the # 3 ranked receiver nationally. I think Hartline does as good aa job as anyone developing receivers at OSU to make it to the NFL. You are 100% correct Texas needs to make Sayin uncomfortable, Texas Edge rush is what worries me with our Tackles both new starters. Going to be a great environment. Frankly one of the best games I have ever been to at the shoe was 2005 when Young hit Limas Sweed at the end of the game to beat us. I have never heard the stadium that loud. That was a night game so the fans had all day and were pretty juiced.
  2. Yes Day is going to give the green light for Sayin to let it rip. Day learned his lesson trying to coach not to lose, as evidence after the Michigan loss. The running game will not be abandoned but our strength is Sayin and the receivers. On a cool note I hear BEVO is making the trip to the shoe. I am pulling for my Buckeyes to win but wont be surprised if they do not. If this was BEVO vs. BRUTUS. I know BEVO wins that one all day...
  3. Sorry you are upset that I and NFL execs disagree with your assessment of Jeremiah Smith. The drop depends on the route. Also I am sure they will roll Sayin out and hit some drag routes, I can also see them putting Smith in the slot and in motion. They will also use him as a decoy and sling it out to Klare on some dig routes. Sayin won't need to throw the ball 70 yards at anytime on 8/30. He just needs to get the ball to his playmakers and let them make plays. Smith's speed and YAC are going to be a problem.
  4. A large portion of the fan base did indeed want him fired due to 4 losses in a row to Michigan. Frankly the fan base has been spoiled. We were 17-7 against them since 2000. Frankly I hate losing to Michigan as much as anyone but Day is a helluva coach and not many better options were or are available. Hope he gets the Michigan monkey off his back this year. I will take a Natty over a Michigan win though....
  5. I will listen to the NFL guys. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/44630603/2025-nfl-draft-jeremiah-smith-ohio-state-how-high
  6. Texas had a lot of success shutting Smith down in January, but to say he is not a polished receiver and does not run good routes is comical at best. He would be aa top ten first round pick this year in the draft if he was not a Soph. 1. Will that same strategy work again? Do you think Ohio state is not going to get creative to get the ball to him? 2. If that strategy works Carnell Tate had a big game on Texas last January, Innis is the real dela and OSU has a major upgrade at TE in Max Klare who draft experts are comparing to Brock Bowers and touting as a first rounder. You can not double all of them. Best scenario is get to Sayin early and often and do not give him time to let that quick release of his go.
  7. Numerous players have had issues with Patricia in the NFL, rumor to have a very callous/controlling personality. If those same habits are exhibited at OSU his tenure will be short. Day will promote James Lauranitis or bring a new guy in next year.
  8. Interesting take. I agree a big push up the middle with DE contain, but will be there also lots of LB & Safety blitzes from OSU. lots of 3/4 look and walking a LB up to 4-3 than walking up crashing another LB or Downs from Safety position. They will do that and also show that same look and drop back depending down/distance/formation.
  9. 100% correct. Patricia has had his struggles, interested to see what he does scheme wise with the talent he has at OSU. Good year or two and maybe he he goes back to the NFL as a DC again. I think HC ship has sailed for now.
  10. Going to be a great game. I could see them meeting again in January.
  11. Ohio State is more likely to run 3-4 and run blitz backers based on down /distance/formation. They will not be dropping 8 at any time, the DB's at most in a known passing situation they will go nickel coverage with a 3 man front and bring a LB off the edge to rush.
  12. I did not state that, but I believe strength vs strength OSU WR are better than Texas DB's Throw in Max Klare flexed at TE you have 4 excellent options to distribute to, not to mention any check downs to the RB. Texas DE are better than OSU Tackles. As I said they need to have their head on a swivel and Sayin has to process and release quickly, either they are forcing him to scramble and throw on the run or OSU may purposedly roll him out opposite of Simmons side. I do not seeing him with much time in the pocket. I have nothing but respect for the Longhorns Defense. I do not think OSU will be able to run on them, but they will have to stay with it as to not be to one dimensional. I look for OSU to use some play action to set up a couple deep shots so they can not abandon the run unless it is 4th qtr. and they are down two scores.
  13. Ohio State has to keep Sayin clean so the Tackles need to have their head on a swivel. I believe if they do this then Sayin will have a big day. I am guessing Day will let him sling it early and often. I see Klare as a big X-factor picking up chunk yards in this game. Also I see the Freshman Bo Jackson taking over as lead back by week 4. Arch will be a problem, but the OSU secondary vs Texas WR is advantageous to OSU. Texas will probably try to establish a run game, but OSU will give some 3-4 looks with LB crashing gaps on run blitzes to neutralize this. Interested to see what the D-Line does that is the biggest question for OSU defense this year. Offense will be fine 4 great options to distribute the ball to. RB unproven but as mentioned I would not be surprised to see Bo getting 8-10 carries in this game. Biggest question is how well these RB can pass block and or catch the ball on check downs and pick up yards. There will be times Sayin is scrambling for his life next Saturday.
  14. The game will come down to which QB does not make mistakes. Sayin has zero collegiate experience to speak of. His talent is undeniable, he has the weapons around him but what will that translate to on the field and how long of a leash does he get? Arch has some experience but looking at the numbers he did not face any noteworthy defenses. Arch's running ability is an X-factor but he has never seen a D or hostile environment like the shoe, if his line can keep him clean long enough to make plays with his arm that will open up his opportunities to run. ULM 51-3 15/29 258 yds, 2td 2 picks. They were the 84th Defense in D1 and the 9th defense in Sunbelt conference Miss St-35-13 26/31 325 yds, 2td/o picks. Good game against but against 125th defense in D1 UTSA 56-7 9/12 223yds, 4TD/0 Picks. They were 71st Defense in D1
  15. Big was 6-4 vs SEC last year.
  16. I see this as a 31-24 type game.
  17. 2. Agree as long as it is not a 15+ point victory by either team they should not drop much in the rankings. 3. Oklahoma is not the Oklahoma of old, and Michigan has a True Frosh QB. Regardless these are the two (SEC vs. BIG) to use as a measuring stick early this season.
