Moving from the BigXii to SEC will require more meat and potatoes.
Not every top 5 class is made of the same ingredients. Throw in 8 top ranked WRs/DBs and you’ll have a great ranking, easy to find, plenty of them available.
That looks a lot different than a class full of 4*+ DLs, OLs, LBs, RBs, and TEs.
Texas needs to over-recruit meat and potatoes every year, and hit the portal for the proven WR/DB mercenaries.
Class rankings won’t be as high, but our team will be better.
Think there is a lot of truth/facts in that.

Where are the ‘23 guys (Cojoe, Stroh, Kirkland, Chatman and Goosby) at development wise? I’ve heard wonderful things about Trevor.
I'll start with Kirkland ... he's got a long recovery from the knee surgery.
Goosby - a lot of positives out of Austin on him. 6-8, 310-315 now. Crazy he was 6-6.25'ish and 270 when he committed.
Chatman - Texas loves the overall athleticism and upside. Question is where on the line will he end up. He's taken reps all across the line. Spring will be key there IMO
Stroh receives praise too. He's going to maximize every ounce of what he has. Among the most physical OL's in the run game.
Cojoe is still so young, and still maturing. If he remains patient and stays with the process, he has a chance from what I've been told.

OU does need some OL dudes.
I’d rather focus on Fasusi and retaining guys already in the program.
@Gerry Hamilton Do we really need a four man class?
We have 14 guys that have 2 to 4 years left.I see Texas signing a five man class in 2025. Just too much high-end talent in the cycle. Six isn't out of the question, but I'm thinking/hearing five now.

@Gerry Hamilton if the season ended today, does Texas get in? If I’m not mistaken, every road game left is against a ranked opponent. Home games are a mix. Sweep the home games and lose all road games, that would be 5-4 across the remaining games. That’ll do IMO. Thoughts?
If it ended today, yes. 4 Quad wins after TCU yesterday. Road wins at TCU and OU

Good stuff
The Tyanthony Smith news isn’t surprising after going by Jasper High twice during his recruitment. He’s a mature mindset guy, as his high school coaches would say as well. He can take a lot of information in, and put it to use.
And his body will develop quick IMO. He reminds me of some of the LB’s that come out of the state of Florida … you look at them in HS and think adding 15-20 really good pounds of weight is attainable in the first 5-6 months they are in college

J Wells has CB'd Jonah to 0u at 70%. Slightly conflicting info it could seem.
I said he’s feeling OU the most right now. That’s saying Oklahoma is in front.

Wished for a long time Mack Brown would take this national recruiting tact. Surreal to see Texas go into the southeast with a real pitch now that the playing field is leveled.
I’ve often wondered how many recruits Mack Brown would have lost with Texas NIL behind him… would have been extremely scary for the competition

In reading Jonah Williams’ bio, got me thinking about other multi sport recruits and I can’t recall any starting football players that also played baseball or basketball! Any that come to mind?
Not at Texas … Kyler Murray recently
There haven’t been many, definitely not successfully

Texas OL coach Kyle Flood was by Bridgeland High Thursday
Texas staff is a big fan of Fodje.
This guy will end up being a top 150 type prospect nationally, or should be. Would be a nice win for OU

Bad loss for OU at UCF, but just shows again how nothing is easy in this conference.

Sounds like perfect timing for Texas to reload.
Who are our top five OL targets outta Texas?
Michael Fasusi, OT, Lewisville High - June 27-29 OV likely set
Tyler Thomas, IOL, Dickinson High - June 27-29 OV likely set
Jonte Newman, OT/G, Cypress Bridgeland
Ryan Fodje, OT, Cypress Bridgeland
Jackson Christian, IOL, Port Neches-Groves ...
Texas will evaluate a lot of guys this spring ... some very difficult decisions to make with this much OL talent in state. John Mills OOS is a take at IOL for sure. Peter Langi out of Cali is a guy Texas likes too. It will be a 5 man class for sure in 2025.

All the talk about getting into Georgia made me recall Derrick Brown the Georgia RB whom Herman recruited from Buford but who could not play for Texas. Did he not stay and receive his degree from Texas?
I believe he did. But will double check

In terms of MLB draft or two-sport athlete in college?
Could be either … think he likes idea of both in college unless he rises to the point of his choice being made for him

Jasper High TE Kiotti Armstrong talks Texas (Sunday 11:03am CST)
in On Texas Football Forum
Posted
Jasper (Texas) High tight end Kiotti Armstrong is among the top offensive targets for Texas in the 2025 cycle.
Armstrong, 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, attended Texas Junior Day January 20. He also received a school visit from head coach Steve Sarkisian and tight ends coach Jeff Banks in January.
“Coach Sark told me to go out there and handle my business,” Armstrong said today. “And keep developing.”
Former Jasper High teammate and good friend Tyanthony Smith has had a strong message for Armstrong since getting settled in at Texas.
“He likes it a lot,” Armstrong said. “He told me Texas is where he needs to be.”
Texas A&M Junior Day visit
Armstrong attended Junior Day at Texas A&M January 13. Getting to spend time on campus with the new staff was key.
“I liked it a lot,” he said. “Being able to be around the new staff. How they treat me and that they will try to develop me as a person and not just a football player.”
Visit plans in March
Armstrong is expected to make an unofficial visit to Texas March 22 prior to a 7v7 tournament in Round Rock the 23rd and 24th.
A visit to Texas A&M in March is also a possibility.
Armstrong currently has 28 offers. That includes SEC programs Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State.
