Lol, this is laughable nonsense. Nothing more than corporate puffery. Use your brain. Go reread what that statement on their website actually says. Do you think Baker Mayfield is a walk-on at Tech if he made it to California? Do you think Lamar Jackson would have made the finals of an elite passing camp in HS? Do you think Sam Bradford or Johnny Manziel are as big a revelation if they were finalists? Even a cursory look at their website shows that “finalist” is a rather fluid term (good QBs who didn’t make the finals were added as “regional finalists”), which, again, is not used in their official statement. You inferred it. The number cited literally includes anybody who paid $50 and made the schlep to a regional camp OR participated as a COUNSELOR. It says practically nothing about ability. In fact, it is pretty hilarious what they are selling uncritical thinkers on because their “alumni” section even includes notable QBs who DIDN’T participate in the camp, so that their name is still searchable within their alumni database (2010 alone has FIVE dudes who had nothing to do with that year’s camp). If you didn’t take the time to scroll down and actually read what it says, you’d assume they were there. Obviously, the Mannings would sue them if they tried that with Arch. Besides, as Gerry pointed out, none of what you parroted has any logical relevance to Arch’s participation. So, to answer your question—the only way we keep hearing about it is if facile human beings continue to disseminate that BS to other people who don’t particularly like thinking. My advice would be—don’t be “thatdude”, dude. I heard Jimbo say that at least once every press conference. Very interesting indeed.

With all due respect, it is very foolish to say things like this…after you said this: “Not Gerry but if it’s money, Texas will not lose. Tech has missed on a lot of players. The kid they just got probably cost them a lot.” Just sayin’.

Oklahoma spring game game highlights
SamMan replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
You know it’s bad when a 40 yard punt that is fair caught makes the highlight reel. Love the field graphic tribute for a *checks notes* high school graduate, who attended Villanova for two years, and later received an honorary degree from there. I suppose laying false claims to things is apropos given the context. BOOMER! (Let’s not even mention Garth) We are less than a decade away from the point when the prodigal son, Drake Stoops, makes a triumphant return from his run as Iowa’s OC/WRs coach to his alma mater in Norman, where he spent what seemed like 13 years as an undergrad/walk-on WR, and takes the visor (er, reigns) of the once storied (as of 2033, moribund) program in the shadow of his father’s statue. It’ll be here before you know it, fellas. -
It’s good to see you here, my friend. I’ve been thinking you’d be pulling your hair out looking at this board.. It’s good to see you too, counselor. You were one of the more fair-minded commenters on sites I used to frequent like BON and TFB back in the day. I always appreciated your thoughtful contributions. I liked Mitchell. There were many things that he did quite well that contributed to winning basketball, but it was as if somebody had beaten the idea that being assertive on the offensive end is a mortal sin into his head. I don’t know how he could go to the NBA combine, perform decently, get specific feedback about his game, work all offseason on developing his offensive repertoire, and still be nothing more than a garbage man on the offensive glass. When you think about all of the poor shot selection we saw at times this year, I’m not convinced it would have been any worse to allow Mitchell to get a few more looks, in places he felt most comfortable, to help him build the confidence to be more assertive. You can’t find your game if you aren’t willing to look for it. Anyway, I think he will do just fine elsewhere, and I could see him being that missing piece for a team with championship aspirations. It’s a shame things didn’t work out better at Texas (Elite Eight ain’t bad), but he was a great teammate and nobody ever questioned his effort. I believe his best basketball is still ahead of him and I hope he finds success in the future.

Definitely need to replace PK with Chizik. Case *in* point, dude has TWO national championships. You know Texas is back when the “Texas didn’t sufficiently blow teams out” criticism returns in full force…It took us 14 years, but we are freaking back, baby!!

I think RT just wanted to prevent a riot in Austin if he actually did his job as a public employee and won something, so he deliberately lost a high-profile recruit…Brilliant plan, worked out perfectly.

With all due respect, I think you should think twice before creating these threads. Seriously, this might be the most undignified, offensive post I’ve read on this site. There is absolutely no reason to use this context. If you are excited about the depth, say that. You don’t need to denigrate a kid by suggesting he has the same mental fragility that leads you to post these “thought pieces”. It’s classless and disrespectful. You don’t have to tear a kid down in order to celebrate others. Fortunately, Bolden seems like a guy who relishes the opportunity to prove people like you wrong. He’s been doing it his entire career. Personally, I’m looking forward to what he can add to an already talented room…because competition makes everyone better. My opinion—that loser mentality has no place here, even during silly season..and Silas Bolden has certainly done nothing to warrant you ascribing it to him. The craziest part in all of this is the fact that you were literally calling for OL to switch over to DL “for depth” a week ago. Now we’re thinking there is so much “talent” in a group with 8 total catches in a Longhorn uniform that a seasoned veteran, with *checks notes* 10x that many career receptions, should seriously rethink his commitment? Come on.

College Basketball Transfer Portal Thread
SamMan replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Guys, can we get back to the actual thread topic? I have no problem with somebody running a fool’s errand, dwelling in the past, and wanting to relitigate something that happened 15 months ago, but I’d prefer that it be done in a more suitable venue. I expect this to be a durable thread that Gerry updates assiduously as the portal heats up. As such, the sooner this particular line of conversation is quelled, the better. I want to read about the stated topic of this thread—the basketball transfer portal. Not why the guy who considers himself one of the very few fans Kobe Bryant had before he died (four years after his 20-year career ended, mind you)—a sentiment he felt compelled to share in the “what should we ask Ricky Williams during his interview?” thread—can’t move on or stay on topic. The only relevant post came from @Assistant Regional Manager four hours ago. Now we have Kobe’s biggest fan explaining that he doesn’t know what guard-dominated iso looks like, but it seems like it sucks. Back on topic, Gerry, I think you’ve discussed previously, but what’s your feel on possible portal attrition from the current squad? -
Do none of y’all know how to spell his name? (Thanks, CJ)

On Lake Travis Peanut Incident - J Brooks, T Sweat recent tweets
SamMan replied to Weino's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Maybe it has to do with the fact that football is the epitome of a team game, and this kid literally went out of his way to intentionally jeopardize the life and wellbeing of a member of his own team from within the four walls of the team’s locker room. It’s not an off-the-field issue, it’s an in-the-f’ing-facility issue. The idea that he would be actively recruited to join the Longhorn program knowing full well that he does not deny or dispute the details of what he did to his fellow teammate, whose only crime, mind you, was that he simply had the misfortune of developing a food allergy and was candid about his condition to people who needed to know, can be jarring to people. Seriously, he asked the victim if he could die from exposure, the victim confirmed, he immediately decided to see for himself, and acted upon that decision. That’s not petty tomfoolery, that’s a character flaw bordering on sociopathy. The fact that the victim was singled out because of his unique condition, something he had as much hand in choosing as his own race, increases the depravity. The intent is what’s relevant, not the result. The kid could have died, and he knew that. Btw, people expressed similar concern with Morris. There is no false equivalency here, and it’s lazy to assert that narrative. Frankly, I propose that we introduce this Cordova chap to Colin Simmons, and have him explain why he thinks (largely) genetically-based disorders are a joke, and why he thinks exploiting the specific vulnerabilities that arise as a result of those disorders, for his own amusement, is cool. Maybe we can have Marquise Goodwin, and, say, Andrew Jones sit in on the conversation, as well. Something tells me that loser would have kicked Freddie’s crutches in this famous photo for the lulz: CTJ is correct, the next LT recruit to become a net positive for the program will be the first. Let him go elsewhere. He won’t be the first one to take his talents to some other school (including some who started out at UT). Hell, maybe Baker can counsel him on how NOT to evade the police. If you are surprised by the fact that people care passionately about children with disabilities being bullied and not rewarding the perpetrators of such actions…well, you would fit right in with the Boston Bruins (and Arizona Coyotes) brass: Bruins Cut Ties with Bully They Signed *Note: Imma really needs to add the 🖕option to this site for trash like @jkatespost, just sayin’ @Bobby Burton. -
Apologies for being pedantic, but it is O’Brien. A little rule of thumb I use: if you can spell “brain” with the letters, you are giving Bill the wrong attribution. All bold type is an interesting choice, but I suppose anyone who would trade DeAndre Hopkins for a spare RB and some pocket lint (or anyone who would hire that person to run a program) can be categorized as such. If we’ve learned anything today, it is that Bjork knows exactly how to spend lots of other people’s money on splashy moves with muddled merits…and BC just gave him one hell of a mulligan.
