About Me

  1. Texas coaches on the road OnTexasFootball is hearing the Texas staff will be on the road beginningThursday seeing top 2026 prospects. That doesn't mean a singular coach may not be out a day earlier to be clear. The reason is pretty simple ... January 15 is the last day players can enter the portal and the NFL draft. Plenty of reason to be on campus first half of the week.
  2. A look at the grades from Pro Football Focus for the Longhorns in the 2024 season. 16 total games and north of 1,000 snaps on both sides of the football. Let's see how the Longhorns stack up. I will start by snap leaders, then add the offensive or defensive grade for the season in parenthesis afterwards. I will add just the players north of 100 snaps on the season, anyone who wants to see specific players below that snap threshold, let me know and I will add them in the comments. Offense 1,169 possible offensive snaps. 1,067 – LG Hayden Conner (70.9) 1,054 – TE Gunnar Helm (62.8) 1,042 – C Jake Majors (72.7) 975 – RT Cameron Williams (67.4) 935 – LT Kelvin Banks (86.0) 901 – QB Quinn Ewers (72.7) 854 – WR Matthew Golden (74.0) 809 – RG DJ Campbell (68.3) 624 – RB Tre Wisner (80.8) 618 – WR Ryan Wingo (64.6) 527 – WR Isaiah Bond (68.9) 522 – WR DeAndre Moore (65.0) 429 – RB Jaydon Blue (73.2) 409 – TE Juan Davis (42.2) 389 – OG Cole Hutson (61.7) 319 – OT Trevor Goosby (62.6) 253 – WR Silas Bolden (73.8) 233 – QB Arch Manning (88.0) 127 – RB Jerrick Gibson (71.1) 114 – WR Johntay Cook (69.9) Defense Out of 1,066 defensive snaps this season. 972 – CB Jahdae Barron (90.8) 897 – CB Malik Muhammad (71.7) 867 – LB Anthony Hill Jr. (72.9) 829 – DB Michael Taaffe (87.9) 712 – DB Andrew Mukuba (90.0) 690 – CB Jaylon Guilbeau (66.1) 674 – EDGE Trey Moore (75.0) 651 – EDGE Barryn Sorrell (71.4) 592 – DL Alfred Collins (87.2) 589 – DL Vernon Broughton (86.1) 506 – LB Liona Lefau (63.9) 477 – DB Jelani McDonald (71.8) 472 – EDGE Colin Simmons (82.5) 471 – DL Jermayne Lole (74.8) 324 – EDGE Ethan Burke (64.6) 314 – LB David Gbenda (81.7) 290 – CB Gavin Holmes (64.8) 259 – DL Bill Norton (61.7) 202 – LB Morice Blackwell Jr. (56.1) 110 – CB Kobe Black (67.5) 98 – DB Derek Williams Jr. (74.8) 94 – DL Alex January (63.2)
  3. Adding Graceson Littleton to the early enrollee list. The 4-star cornerback has moved onto campus according to the Texas Football account. It was originally unexpected that Littleton would move to campus for the spring semester, however, he is now on campus and will join the team for winter workouts and spring football. Pretty nice development for the Longhorns.
  4. Texas Makes Top 5 for Tiki Hola The Longhorns have made the cut for Bastrop (Texas) High DL Tiki Hola. Hola has been on campus upwards of five times during the 2024 calendar year, and as a result the Longhorns make the top five with USC, Oregon, SMU and Notre Dame. This spring seasons is going to be really important for Hola. Can he continue to grow into his frame? That will be the big question.
  5. Texas LT Kelvin Banks is headed to the NFL he announced via his instagram on Sunday. The All-American won the Outland and Lombardi Awards in 2024. Best of luck to the Humble, Texas prospect!
  6. Quite the frustrating second half of the season for Isaiah Bond. After the ankle injury against Oklahoma, he was never the same impactful player for the Longhorns and it was a large reason why there was so many stagnant moments in my eyes. The first five games were what Texas signed up for. I don’t know what the draft grade is for Bond, but it sure isn’t in the first round or probably close to where he wants it to be after the last seven games.
  7. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is speaking with the media following the Longhorns' loss to Ohio State. Notes and quotes in comments below. Jahdae Barron and Quinn Ewers will accompany Sarkisian.
  8. Starting a quick tracker of the portal entries we see start to file in with the turn of the calendar to December. Signing day will garner a lot of excitement, but these will be some names to keep an eye on in the ever-changing landscape of college football.
  9. According to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian in the Cotton Bowl press conference Thursday: "Cam (Williams) will play."
  10. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day are on the podium for the final time ahead of the Texas-Ohio State meeting in the College Football Semifinal. The game will kickoff Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Notes and quotes from both coaches will be in the comments down below.
  11. I’m in San Antonio this afternoon for the first day of practice of the All American Bowl. There are several Longhorns in attendance here this week: — WR Kaliq Lockett — WR Daylan McCutcheon — WR Jaime Ffrench — CB Kade Phillips As well as a number of top 2026 prospects too. Will update the thread as the day continues.
  12. @Bobby Burton, @Gerry Hamilton and I had the conversation earlier today on Coffee & Football about what you would do if you were Steve Sarkisian and you won the coin toss. I believed in allowing the defense to take the field first and seeing if Ohio State could go the length of the field to begin the game. Gerry and Bobby sided with taking the ball and putting the offense on the field to start the contest, citing Ohio State's scorching hot starts to their Playoff games. What would you do given the decision?
  13. Kenny Baker has extended an offer to 2026 Richardson DL Jaimeon Winfield Monday evening. Winfield has been on the radar of the Longhorns for a little bit now and the offer has officially been extended. Winfield is listed at 6-foot-4-inches and 290 pounds. He holds offers from Florida State, Auburn, LSU, TCU and USC among 14 others.
  14. A handful of Longhorns will be made available for comments ahead of Friday's Cotton Bowl matchup against Ohio State. Of course, a storyline worth monitoring is the first game for Quinn Ewers against his former team. Will have notes and quotes in the comments down below. Also, a video of the player availability will be coming shortly after the conclusion on the OnTexasFootball YouTube channel.
  15. Several Texas defensive players will be made available to the media following Sunday's practice. Texas was in pads for the Sunday afternoon practice in preparation for their College Football Playoff Semifinal matchup vs. Ohio State. Notes and quotes in the comments down below.
  16. A 2026 Junior Day invite of note The Texas Longhorns will hold a Junior Day on January 25. Javian Osborne (Forney, Texas/High) has already confirmed that date, and will very likely be in attendance. OnTexasFootball caught up with Carthage (Texas) High 2026 LB Daquives Beck Friday night, and he informed OTF that he has a January 25 Junior day invite as well. Beck, nearing 6-1 and 205-pounds, is in contact with Co-DC and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen weekly. Beck picked up an offer from Arkansas Friday. He now has 16 offers, including Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi State out of the SEC. He reports that Arizona State is recruiting him harder than any school right now. Beck is teammates with 2026 running back KJ Edwards, who Texas is also recruiting.
  17. A quick look at the snap counts for the Longhorns after their 2OT victory over Arizona State in the Peach Bowl. *** Defensive Snap Count Out of 102 possible snaps. 102 – Andrew Mukuba 101 – Jahdae Barron 98 – Michael Taaffe 94 – Anthony Hill Jr. 86 – Malik Muhammad 76 – Barryn Sorrell 73 – Trey Moore 68 – Liona Lefau 66 – Jelani McDonald 61 – Vernon Broughton 54 – Jermayne Lole 53 – Alfred Collins 46 – Colin Simmons 31 – Jaylon Guilbeau 30 – Bill Norton 26 – Ethan Burke 24 – Gavin Holmes 17 – Morice Blackwell Jr. 16 – David Gbenda – Texas wanted to get bigger in the box against ASU, hence why there was double the Jelani McDonald snaps vs. Jaylon Guilbeau. – Mukuba and Barron each over 100 snaps on Wednesday. – Most snaps of the season for Broughton, Norton, Lole and Collins. *** Offensive Snap Count Out of 63 possible snaps. 63 – Quinn Ewers, Jake Majors, Trevor Goosby, Kelvin Banks, Hayden Conner, Gunnar Helm 54 – Matthew Golden 52 – Tre Wisner 42 – Ryan Wingo, DJ Campbell 38 – DeAndre Moore 22 – Isaiah Bond 21 – Cole Hutson 20 – Juan Davis 15 – Jaydon Blue 7 – Silas Bolden 1 – Jerrick Gibson – Interesting splits between Hutson and Campbell. It was Hutson who finished the 4Q.
  18. A big new and key recruiting rule for the 2026 class and beyond In the last cycle, head coaches and assistant coaches could meet at high schools with prospects and families in the 2025 cycle in January. In the 2026 class, the next step has been taken. Head coaches and assistants can now make true in-home visits at the residence of prospects in the month of January. That means following the conclusion of the season, the Texas staff will be going in-home with 2026 prospects that Texas deems top targets.
  19. Both Ryan Day and Steve Sarkisian are set to speak with the media for roughly 20 minutes today. Day will speak first at 11:00 am and then Sarkisian will follow up at noon. Notes and quotes in the comments below.
  20. Yesterday Texas A&M WR Noah Thomas officially entered the transfer portal. While it’s still early in the process, I’m told that Thomas is definitely a name to keep an eye on. Expect Texas to host Thomas in the near future, as he’s spoken with the staff over the last few days. Two other schools have also caught his attention: Georgia and Miami. One source has indicated that Georgia and Texas are the top two, with Miami running a distant third. I would expect him to visit all three at this time. I’m also told that Georgia is “in it to win it” and really likes Thomas. This past season he caught 39 passes for 574 yards and eight touchdowns.
  21. Yahya Gaad commitment timeline update Just received word from Medina (Tenn.) South Gibson 2026 EDGE Yahya Gaad that he is pushing back his scheduled Thursday commitment until late January or early February. He plans to visit Texas again in late January (likely the 25th when Texas has junior day).
  22. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham will be speaking one final time ahead of the Peach Bowl kickoff on Wednesday. Both have spoken at length this week in regards to the buildup to this game and this provides as one last opportunity to speak up their opponents or to provide some updates on health. Notes and quotes in the comments down below.
  23. I'll start it off ... Texas big ... my current score prediction is 52-23
  24. Texas heads into a bye where they look to get Andrew Mukuba back for the Florida game when the calendar flips to November. With that said, a look at the snap counts for the Longhorns from their 27–24 victory over Vanderbilt. *** Defense Out of 66 possible snaps. 66 – Jelani McDonald, Malik Muhammad, Anthony Hill Jr., Michael Taaffe 63 – Jahdae Barron 47 – Trey Moore 44 – Jaylon Guilbeau, Barryn Sorrell, Alfred Collins 43 – Liona Lefau 41 – Vernon Broughton 39 – Jermayne Lole 25 – Colin Simmons, Ethan Burke 14 – David Gbenda 9 – Kobe Black, Bill Norton 8 – Mo Blackwell Jr. 2 – Alex January, Warren Roberson 1 – Colton Vasek, Gavin Holmes – Surprisingly no Jordon Johnson-Rubell in this game. – The snap share for Lefau and Gbenda are pretty telling. The change has been made, it is Lefau's spot fully. – Nine snaps for Kobe Black. He played really well in those snaps – he was targeted three times. – Going to be interesting to see how the snaps from Vernon Broughton are split up in the 1H during his suspension. My guess is mostly to Lole, then Norton and maybe some January. *** Offense Out of 73 possible snaps. 73 – Cam Williams, Kelvin Banks, Gunnar Helm, Hayden Conner, Jake Majors, Quinn Ewers 71 – Matthew Golden 65 – DJ Campbell 56 – Ryan Wingo 43 – Tre Wisner 40 – DeAndre Moore 30 – Jaydon Blue 21 – Juan Davis 19 – Silas Bolden 10 – Amari Niblack 8 – Cole Hutson 1 – Jerrick Gibson, Ryan Niblett – The first snaps for Amari Niblack since the UTSA game on week three. He had two receptions in ten snaps. – No Gibson, no Niblett this weekend basically. – This is the second straight game where Gunnar Helm has been on the field for every snap.
