I agree, especially with your point about how the money involved has completely changed the way college sports operate. Once schools, conferences, and players are all dealing with that kind of money, it becomes much harder to separate the sport from the business side of it. It actually got me curious about how that financial structure compares with professional teams, and I ended up looking into who owns the Texas Longhorns the ownership history is pretty interesting.

I ran across Casey Thompson’s Instagram page the other day and had no idea he was playing in Germany. The reason I’m posting this, though, is take a look at all the ads on those uniforms. They look like a NASCAR car with sponsor logos everywhere. There are even ads on the front of the helmets. It looks ridiculous. I like the idea that the defining players aren’t necessarily the obvious stars, but the guys who take that unexpected next step. Jonah Williams is an especially interesting pick after the interception in the first scrimmage, and Siani looks like another one worth watching given how well the new offensive line is coming together. With Texas already getting so much attention heading into the season, I’ve also been curious about the ownership side of the program and recently read about who owns the Texas Longhorns . Lots of interesting storylines around Texas right now.
