Agreed. PD doesn't play the best competition, but he looks pretty polished already. My favorite about him is his physicality, whether it's blocking, playing edge, or trying to run through tackles. And that should only get better when he's in the S&T program at Texas.

TTU is chasing stars. Just like everything else up there at this point, they want quick fixes and think highest star ranking by industry means better player. While that is true a lot of the time, you are always going to miss on a number of gems if you are only paying attention to stars. Ask Mack Brown about that from about 2009-2014...

It's pretty interesting watching his film. Obviously he's not playing against DFW and Houston level talent out there, but what really stood out to me is he seems really polished for a high school junior. He naturally works to find open space in zone coverage. He sets up defenders in man coverage. I think his "super power" as RodB would say is his stop and start/change of direction. He has great feet. I really like this guy. If he was in DFW or Houston there's not way he wouldn't be ranked waaaay higher.

Buzz on Penn State side significantly. I mentioned going into the weekend brandon sherrard was someone I was really interested in. LSU will be a major threat, but I think we are really close to seeing the corner picture lay itself out

Man, they had to really go over the top for that one, I would think. From everything I've heard from OTF, Schumaker and Tyler Alexander are not similar players. Shumaker is a top 50, top 100 talent from my understanding. My guess is they would have preferred him over Alexander - does this mean Colorado just went WAY over the top? I assume Texas had Shumaker >>> Alexander

It does but not directly related to Texas. For Colorado it changed calculus.

I have to go with Jelani McDonald. Ty'Anthony Smith had some big hits in high school but is probably a bit too undersized to really decleat guys in the SEC. Here's a clip of him and Jasper vs. Waco Connally in the playoffs during Smith and Kobe Black's senior seasons. Jasper won and ended Black's HS career. Kinda crazy seeing how skinny Smith was at that point

As of Tuesday morning, multiple sources feel DeSoto (Texas) CB Dhillon McGee is not going to end up selecting Texas on Wednesday evening. SMU and Penn State are the other two finalists. The Longhorns have recruited the in-state CB hard, but as the class has evolved and come together, with guys like John Meredith III and Greedy James, and potentially Montre Jackson (June 27 announcement) and Brandon Sherrard (July 1 announcement), it's opened the door for others like the Nitanny Lions and Mustangs to keep it close, and for Texas to be picky when it comes to how the staff wants to fill out the last 1-2 CB spots. We'll keep you posted if anything changes ahead of Wednesday night.
