Texas will get a visit from Miami freshman defensive lineman Donta Simpson. Simpson, who is 6-3, 300 pounds, played his high school ball at Chaminade-Madonna High, the same school that produced incoming Texas running back recruit Derek Cooper and Florida State safety Edwin Joseph who visited Texas this weekend. Illinois, Washington and SMU also hope to get Simpson to visit.

I enjoy your football knowledge now Rod and I especially enjoyed watching you compete your guts out for our longhorns in your playing days! A True Lifetime Longhorn, which are few and far between now.

Grew up in Chicago, followed by Grambling, Louisiana, then Houston for 20 years before my current spot in Cedar Park. I work in sports media and cover a different sport, so I know how good this community is compared to others. My first live football game in the South, I saw Steve “Air”McNair in college and first HS game I saw VY play both ways vs North Shore in the Astrodome. That’s when I became a big HS/College football fan. I’ve been a UT fan ever since VY committed.

Grew up in the Chicago suburbs but now I live part time in South Barrington, IL and also part time in downtown Austin. Fun little tidbit about me… when I was a freshmen in high school I had the pleasure to guard Derrick Rose when he was senior at Simeon for a holiday tournament (you can only imagine how that went lol) and when I was a senior played against Anthony Davis in another tournament where he almost dropped a quadruple double (2 assist shy). That’s when I knew I was not cutout to play basketball beyond high school
