The Longhorns will host the Tigers next year in Moody Center on December 16, 2026. Memphis will play host to Texas during the 2027-28 season on a date still to be determined. Tip time and television network coverage for next year's game in Austin will be announced at a later date. Texas holds a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools which dates back to the 1965-66 season. In the first meeting, the Longhorns claimed an 80-72 win at Memphis in the opening round of the Memphis State Classic on Dec. 20, 1965. Texas posted an 80-79 victory at No. 19 Memphis on Dec. 12, 1972, before No. 12 Memphis responded with a 90-82 win the following season in Austin on Dec. 13, 1973. Texas and Memphis completed a home-and-home series during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, with the Longhorns winning both contests. On Jan. 6, 2005, No. 15 Texas claimed a 74-67 victory in Austin. The following year in Memphis (Jan. 2, 2006), No. 15 Texas recorded a 69-58 win at No. 4 Memphis. In the most recent matchup between the two schools (March 30, 2008), No. 2 Memphis registered an 85-67 victory over the No. 7 Longhorns in an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight contest in Houston's Reliant Stadium.
