“Domination” is being used way too loosely
Gerry Hamilton replied to CHorn427's topic in On Texas Football Forum
And in no way did I watch that game and thought LSU played a sloppy game. I'm the opposite. Considering it was your first game of the season and on the road vs. a top 5 ranked team ... LSU didn't play "sloppy". They literally shut out Clemson at home in the second half. Not perfect, but not sloppy. LSU executed at a pretty high level in game one on the road in that environment against Clemson. If LSU had played a sloppy game on defense, they would have lost and given up 24-31 points against an offense as talented as Clemson. Instead, they executed at a pretty high clip. Offensively, had the two TO's, but if you watched the game, they executed a game plan really well. Had 25 first downs in the game and possessed the ball for 37 minutes . You don't do that playing "sloppy" against a quality opponent on the road. -

I agree with Brian Kelly on that one. LSU did dominate Clemson in the second half ... when you consider it was a talent neutralized game and LSU was on the road. They got hosed on a TD call, or it's 21-0 in the second half of the game. In a top 10 matchup, if the road team outscores you by 21 in a half, the home team got dominated in the second half IMO. -
Kalen Deboer: 8-4 fired?
Philip Barber replied to Texas fan in Georgia's topic in On Texas Football Forum
His problem with the players is the players. They are Saban kids, and they don’t want to play for him and probably nobody else either. Bama should have hired someone they were familiar with. Last year, he had to play Milroe. The team would have revolted. Milroe didn’t fit his scheme. So, he is a year behind with Simpson. Not having Grubbs hurt too but if a head coach needs particular guys to be successful than there will be a problem eventually once the guy gets an opportunity to get his own gig, which is one reason Saban was successful. It would eventually be the downfall of Mack at the end. He could not get the coordinator on the same page with him. -

Honestly with the day he had, to come back and throw some of the passes he did, shows he was starting to get into his own but unfortunately time ran out and he still made some bad throws towards the end. But as people much smarter and knowledgeable than me have said, there was some good mixed in with the bad.

Arch has no problem whatsover with arm strength... no he doesn't have a joe milton type of arm or even josh allen but he's gonna be fine... He's got a stronger arm than burrow and even more arm talent, not to mention he's a better athlete. With Arch the last thing we need to worry about is talent... If there's one thing that jumped out the tape saturday was that he's actually really raw and I'd advise against judging how his mechanics/footwork are just from the OSU game. He's got the best supporting cast a QB could ask for and I can assure you they've been teaching and honing fundementals since before middleschool... his clock was just too sped up on saturda, he needs to get a lot more comfortable playing.

$70,000,000 buy out ... he ain't getting fired until that number goes down. Bama doesn't have A&M booster money ... -
He had to know expectations were high after taking the job from a literal legend of the game, no? I doubt he gets fired, although 8-4 might get some more interesting calls from Bama fans onto Finebaums show lol.

Alabama is in a place like Oklahoma and some other schools that cannot afford to fire a coach, hire new one, and keep NIL coffers up.

OTF Premium Texas Snap Counts vs. Ohio State (Sunday)

I’m pretty sure Christian Clark was in on the 4th and 5 play at the end. When Arch made the off point pass to Wingo I noticed the back didn’t even chip. I rewound and thought I saw #6 go out on a route leaving the free path that then created the pressure. I looked up the number and thought I saw #6 was Clark. Maybe I got all that wrong but it got my attention at the moment. -
Also pretty late for a school night, regardless of whether he was DWI or DUI.

Travis Co DA Jose Garza can't even get murder cases to trial, having charges dropped in Travis Co is a low bar. Sorry, politics, @Bobby Burton.

In today’s click bait internet world, everyone talks in hyperbole. -
The word “domination” has been heavily abused these days. Most recent instance: LSU vs Clemson. People (including Gerry and Bobby) claimed LSU “dominated” Clemson in the second half. LSU outgained Clemson by 50 yards and outscored them by 14 points (Clemson outscored them by 7 in the first half). Clemson was 15 yards away from tying the game with a minute left. That is NOT domination! LSU just won a hard fought game. Why can’t we just leave it at that? Swinney’s comments about 63 for LSU and 58 for Clemson was accurate. Both of them played Sloppy games and LSU came out a little ahead. Boasting about dominating a team when you won like that is just bad sportsmanship and I think breeds bd culture. What Would Saban Do? He would be on his team like they lost if they won by 35 points. Other examples of non-domination being called domination: our loss to Ohio State this year and last year (close games in position to tie late), loss to UGA in the SEC championship game, Big10 winning two natties in a row. People can’t help but exaggerate these days. True example of domination for reference: winning a game by double digits in their house and running the last 6 minutes of game clock like we did vs Bama in 2023. A one score game is just NOT domination.

Norvell and Riley have had bad seasons too. Then they hit the portal hard and their schools backed them more in NIL and their high school recruiting picked up. Might see that more in the NIL era. HCs even at big name CFB programs sticking around due to big buyouts having that money allocated to NIL for the portal and high school recruiting. He'll get next season to figure it out, but he has to get them to the CFP. -

There was a comment on Twitter that said players were up ordering door dash at 1 am sneaking people in the hotels etc… there was also a video of two players laughing on the field during the kneel down. If big money doners are fed up that fast anything is possible
