Tuesday - The Future of College Sports
MarkInAustin replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
The disdain for TT on this board may be deserved at some level but it is unworthy as a critique of the ideas posed. The notion that college sports are akin to a public trust is one that I have not previously heard or read, but it is worth considering. The notion that college sports are leaving money on the table negotiating with the TV networks is surely true. The notion that college athletes are under-represented in the process is probably accepted by all of us. The notion that the NCAA bureaucracy does not serve the best interests of collegiate sports is probably accepted by all of us. ------- While the B1G and the SEC would likely be the lead negotiators and greatest contributors and beneficiaries of a revamped system, considering the four ideas and incorporating them does not seem like a bridge too far, IMO. -

Let's not forget the Tech student who shoved Barryn Sorrell to the ground in 2022 after they rushed the field. Or their antics for Beard's trip back to Lubbock. The student section at the baseball series in 2024 was kicked out on Friday night when we played there. -

Yes. A rivalry requires two to dance. And beating aggy which we usually do is awesome. Aggy and OU are rivals. I'd like to beat Georgia and make it a rivalry. Tech was an annoying mosquito. No one wants to play Tech anymore. No one wants a trip to Lubbock. They were never a rival no more than TCU or Rape U - Waco or UH was. -

Regarding Selvin Garrett: I was middle school friends with his uncle and a lot of my buddies are still close with his family. Really happy for him and wish him the best on the 40 🤘 -

I was in Lubbock for the last game...don't think Bijan has fumbled since and no one was rude to me or my daughter, everyone was very nice, just sad and upset that rivalry is over....for now -

So you think Texas was running the same systems as Bama, Georgia, Ohio state, LSU, Oregon, Aggie, Auburn, Florida, Clemson, etc before NIL? -

(Bonus KU/Mizzou fact: Mizzou has the same number of Big 12 wins between 2008 and 2023 as Kansas, despite being in the SEC since 2013.) That is an astounding factoid. Ugh, poor KU. -
