  2. The football world evolves and access is at an all time. Yet it amazes me the narratives that pop up and take off. And admittedly it makes me more cautious regarding this game. I remain confident about the Horns chances. If the players are in that mindset, it’s a good place to be. The confidence on the OSU side comes off as overconfidence. Your defense was the backbone of your team as was ours. OSU lost a ton of reps there and has minimal reps returning at certain spots. Yet the talk comes off as this unit will be ready and raring to go. Nevermind you have a new DC. OSU lost their most veteran receiver but added a TE so that’s somehow an immediate upgrade. Yet we’ll ignore that Texas returns 5 starters out of the back 7. That does not include Williams and McDonald, both with starts and one that was logging significant reps until hurt. And supposedly LeFau is known for his pass coverage ability. Advantage OSU. The OSU Oline is getting significant talk apparently about how good they are. This is based on a team accomplishment. Their most accomplished guy from last year is gone. Both starting tackles are gone to be replaced with a relatively inexperienced, new to the position guy and a transfer with limited experience. We are replacing guys upfront defensively, but they’ve been replaced with a good balance of experience, maturity and variation to match opposing offenses. Advantage OSU. We lose considerable experience offensively but relative to the OSU defensive losses it’s very possible we net out ahead there. Cole Hutson is much like OSUs two most experienced guys. He needs to step up and prove it. Campbell given pedigree, production and the live bullets he’s seen should be considered the top olineman in the game. Goosby has limited but quality game experience. Guys like Robertson and Neto have been here going on 4 years. We lose Golden, Bond and Helm. Two first year st Texas WRs, both less than 100% in last years meeting. Helm was not much of a receiver until he was. Wingo is the best combo of size/speed on our last two teams, and Endries has better numbers than Klare to date. There’s a good chance we’re better at TE this year than last. An underappreciated element here may be the production each team gets from their TEs blocking. Advantage OSU. OSU at RB has a transfer with experience and one dude with little experience. We have two guys with experience albeit one returning from injury. The run games are probably more to do with what happens upfront than any spectacular efforts from the RBs. Do advantage OSU. QB. We shall see, but you’d have to give us the nod. Arch has been around longer and has more live reps. Sounds like his skill set is more varied. Advantage OSU. From a non-Texas fan perspective, there are some elements that may go under the radar. Defensively, we’ve made a concerted effort at certain positions to rotate that are not typical. Safety for one. We rotate pretty well upfront too. Simmons is not a retuning starter. Moore may be a returning starter but is not starting this year. We also present different skillsets and can mix and match our opponents. We are well balanced and an injury or two should be navigated well. Then there is the continuity element although we lost some back-end coaches here. It will come down to who plays closest to their potential. And it could be a drop here, a missed tackle there or an overthrow or perfectly thrown pass that is the final key play. Then the respective winning fans can beat their chests about how right they were in their pregame analysis in the toss-up 3 point game.
  3. If the deal doesn't get done I'll sign up for the Foxone streaning app like a lot of others to get through the first weekend.
  4. I know most of Arch's time came against lesser competition, but I would watch the games against UTSA, ULM, and State. That would give a better assessment of what to expect from an Arch/Sark offense instead of Quinn/Sark. There's a noticeable difference between the two.
  5. 1. I agree and like the mentality. Frankly I would like OSU to do that with Sayin and our WR's to start the game. If you are going to make a mistake make it early.... If Sayin is slinging it around moving chains and leads a scoring opening drive the confidence goes through the roof.
  6. Not saying Ohio State will be surprised in a sense they can't stop Texas, but more of this isn't what we expected. Last year we couldn't hit on deep shots, so the offense was designed to get the ball to athletes and space. Unfortunately, that meant a lot of screens and passes behind the line of screen and yeilded a lot of tackles for loss. This year the offense will be more vertical. Just like Texas, Ohio State will have to stop the run with a light box.
  7. Frankly not impressed with him. I know he had some injury issues last year he did not disclose to the coaches and it really showed up in a couple games with his kick offs and FG attempts He was solid in the playoffs, but a 40+ yarder to win the game. I am closing my eyes and praying.
  8. We need an update once the deadline passes. If it's not one thing, it's another.
  9. With it be Ohio State that is surprised, or Texas? I can just as easily see Texas being surprised that there is no drop off in Ohio State’s D (if that happens).
  10. I used to really like Klatt a lot. He’s a bit of a Big 10 homer now. The other day with Cowherd he asked Colin if this is a bigger game for the SEC or B1G and the whole convo delved into talking about how great the B1G is with the best player, best team, best coach, last two national champions, etc. To the root of his question, I wouldn’t pound my chest for the SEC if we win, I’d be happy to say that Texas has gone into Tuscaloosa, Ann Arbor, and Columbus in consecutive years. The SEC didn’t do that. Klatt’s Fox affiliation has watered him down for me. But I will watch this lol
  11. Derrick Hatchett was a very underrated corner for us. Three year starter with Johnnie Johnson and Ricky Churchman at safeties.
  12. They're going to be in for a surprise. I understand they don't really follow Texas, but they go all the way back to Sark's second year up to Michigan last year, one thing Sark did to open the game was to let it rip. So that secondary will get tested and this is the first year of the new body type recievers. Gone are the Worthys and Bonds and in are the 6'2" and 6'4" guys who are physical and and can endure physical play.
  13. Its too bad Hicks got caught in a bad stretch of Texas football. Damn good player. Quinn will always be a favorite. Say what you want, but still lead us to back-to-back semifinal appearances, and won some damn big games
  14. Agree with this, less time to think and overthink, let your training and natural abilities take over. I was never an elite athlete, but I did complete some Ironman triathlons, my friends always told me on race day to ease my nervousness - just trust your training. That's all the Longhorns needs to do, trust their training - they have some of the best coaches in the sport.
  15. We wanted him in prison for treason. He did go 4/4 in the playoffs so we are hoping (praying) that momentum carries over into the regular season
  16. I think it’s because in their minds Ohio State has the best secondary in CFB, and if Texas has the #1 LB room, then Ohio State has the #2 LB room. That combined with two new WRs, and 4 new OL and a new TE they aren’t expecting Texas to be able to move the ball consistently unless it’s coming from Arch’s legs
  17. After Michigan last year, what do you guys think about your place kicker? We dealt with Auburn and his right hash issues, and decided he had to go.
  18. Yep. Today by 5:00 EST is what I've seen.
  19. I am also worried about this game as is Buckeye Nation. Frankly pounding the rock inside may be a recipe for success against us.. Our D-Line is new, they have experience but this will be their first year as starters. The matchups in this game are going to be fun to watch, if it is a tight one as I expect it to be, who make the better adjustments at half. We have both a new OC & DC.
  20. 🤣 I'll pass. Klatt is still concused and Urban Myer is still sniffing his finger.
  21. My take on this: Sarks 15 play script success : bama…Michigan… A&m … it his secret to drown out 110,000 fans and neutralize genius def coordinator calls Arch is a fast - decisive… attack … play him wuick i predict Sarks goin fast fast fast … no huddle…doubling down on Arches … strengths no way he lets his qb get overwhelmed by overthinking, allowing defenses to call in plays , faking looks Sarks scripts combined with Arch could be lightening in a bottle… … Sark believes Arch is a version of Burrows… a champion.., Sark knows what he has… a Manning that is better than Peyton and Eli… eventually Sark will just keep firing… goin fast, Arch plays fast… thats who he is fundamentally worst mistake Sark could do is play Arch in a slow …read the def…, allow def coor to confuse him play him quick… fast.. scripted especially in his first big game! Play your players quick.. machine like.. full throttle less thinking, full speed those first 15 plays!
  22. Popcorn in hand. Similar to Fox One, Hulu is another good option as well. I believe the contract ends today, correct?
  23. Why are they talking about Arch as if he's Josh Allen? Sark isn't going to run zone read and designed run plays when he doesn't know who the backup qb is. Sure Arch may scramble here and there, but the Arch that got knocked out the game isn't the Arch Ohio State is going to see. That was just a package to get Arch in the game last year.
