The effects he will have on the program won't be visible to most people so i'm not too concerned about it to have a knee jerk reaction. One thing that Aggys did well under Jimbo is find good talent...they didn't do much with it, but they could find it so hopefully he is able to do the same here. I do love the fact that Sark continues to bring in people that can help us strengthen and expand our reach into SEC country. Him having so much experience in TN, i think we'll see his impact if we start seeing more TN players being targeted and offered.

That’s fair. All I’m saying is that people shouldn’t have any knee-jerk reactions about this guy. He’s a complete unknown to most of us. But if there’s one thing Sark has done extremely well at Texas, it’s bringing in extremely high-level staff, including guys who are not well known outside of the industry but are highly regarded by Sark’s network. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise.

Kenny Baker wasn’t moving anyone’s needle either. Sark has a huge network. He isn’t just going to hire anybody to run his scouting team. This dude has NFL experience and a lot of lower-classification experience. To me this signals that Sark finally wants to get serious about finding diamonds out of the G5 and DII and Juco. I’m all about it.

somebody's brother in law? -
Texas has found a new Director of Scouting per a report from Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Steve Sarkisian has named Kevin Mashack as the next Director of Scouting for the Texas Longhorns. Mashack, a Miami, Florida native, returned to Tennessee State University in the summer of 2023 for his third stint with the Tigers, where he served as Director of Football Recruiting. Mashack spent more than 13 years at TSU across three tenures (2007–2013, 2015–2021, and 2023), holding roles that ranged from student assistant and video coordinator to position coach and recruiting leader. Between his TSU stints, Mashack worked three seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013–2015) as a scouting assistant in player personnel. He later moved into college personnel leadership roles, serving as Director of Player Personnel and High School Relations at Indiana in 2021 and Director of Player Personnel at Texas A&M in 2022 under Jimbo Fisher. Now, he joins the Longhorns on Steve Sarkisian's staff.

The question about their 3-point shooting slump really struck a nerve with Vic because deep down inside, he knows they're right and that's what it's gonna take to beat South Carolina, LSU, UConn, etc. in the tourney and win it all imo. With Aaliyah Crump back healthy, their outside shooting is the only question mark I have about this team. They are national championship level at everything else. The outside shooting won't hurt them in the regular season but could cap their ceiling to Final Four if it doesn't get addressed. Right now, it seems like UConn is destined for an undefeated national championship season. They are the best 3-point shooting team in WCBB and it's gonna take a herculean effort to knock them out of the tourney. Their conference schedule is a cake walk. Texas at full strength has the best chance to do that imo. -

Do we have an analyst dedicated to whining to refs yet? I use "analyst" and "fixer" interchangeably here. -

There wasn't as much turnover on the offensive staff this year than defense, obviously. Not ruling out offensive additions to the analyst room, but right now focus on my end remains on the defensive side. -

Most interested in seeing if Lee can get back on track. She’s been slumping the last few games now and we will not contend for a chip without her playing well with confidence. Also, I want to see Crump get integrated more into the offense off the bench.
