I didnt think the expectations were too lofty I just think the pressure got to him early and is a part of his maturation process. Generally when a guy over performs we say he will regress to the mean. In Archs case it was the opposite. You dont dominate and flash like he did if you don't have IT. Arch is progressing to his mean and should steadily reach a trajectory even higher than any QB Texas has had since VY.

That 4th down play call from Bobo was almost as bad as the toss sweep sark called on the goal line vs Ohio state. It had no chance from the time the ball was snapped. But then again, a gamble on 4th down is what ole miss did to put LSU away.

I’ve seen some clips on fans in the stands last night chanting “fire franklin”. Last night was his opportunity to prove everybody wrong. A white out at night. A first year starter to gameplan against. He had everything on the line and while he fought back down 17-3, it’s still the same result . If he doesn’t beat Ohio st this season I think the fanbase turns on him completely. You see how our fanbase gets angry thinking about sarks record against elite coaches, Penn state fans have been going through that for YEARS

Riley sucks and probably screwed up today by throwing to the endzone to take the lead with 1:55 still left. That said, USC looks much improved on offense (their offense was actually the problem last year) and while the defensive backs are bad outside of Kamari Ramsey who didn’t play today, their defense forces turnovers and their pass rush is legit. The defense took a step back overall from last year but it won’t be felt because they can get to the quarterback and make splash turnover plays. USC will likely be a 9ish win team. Sure, they could choke and go like 8-5 but I think they’ll be 9-4 or 10-3. Maiava, Lemon, Lane and Jordan are legit and the OL is really good. My point is that Riley isn’t getting fired unless they lose 5+ games with a couple of embarrassing performances.

And assuming said “coach” is gone, does that potentially open Mark Bowman back up with a shot for the good guys @Gerry Hamilton, or was the money so high it wouldn’t mattered if they hired Billy Napier as the next coach, he’d still be going USC. Enrich my life so I know what to root for!! PS. - teams dropping like flies today. Opens everything back up for Texas much easier but we need to see the SHSU offense week in and week out. I think we are damn near unbeatable if the O looks like that and the D continues with their upward trajectory. Reed is so improved that aggy essentially stopped letting him throw as the 2H continued. He's still trash on any throw over 15 yards. The aggy OL is still bad, and they have no self control on either side of the ball.
