  1. Past hour
  2. Speaking of Arch... We've heard about Arch taking over as the leader and hardest worker. Here's a recent interview with Indy Colt great Marcus Pollard, in which he talks about Peyton's work ethic and leadership. "If I tell you it's Easter, you better hunt eggs." You can scroll the bottom to get to the Peyton parts.
  3. A 46 year old black man will shed tears watching a morning cfb show.... crazy work. I kinda grew up with certain people being public figures... and seeing them leave reminds me of how short life really is. We gotta enjoy each other more, people. I can say this... moments like the ones Corso provided for countless Saturday's are the things that center us... take us away from the chaos of the mainstream media and all the evil we face throughout the week. That's why what OnTexasFootball does is so essential. It brings all of us together. Thank you Lee Corso for doing that much.
  4. A legendary send off with a longhorn win.
  5. Today
  6. Thanks Gerry! "Scooter" was a regular on Saturday mornings. Watching Coach Corso has been a little like we have watched our own Grandpa, Dad, Uncle, Neighbor or even our favorite Old Coach as they have aged a bit every season. As the games melt into seasons, we forget to savor single Saturdays. Then we wake up and realize it's all coming to an end. For me, it goes back to Sunday evenings in Longhorns football seasons, watching Coach Royal's TV show hosted by Cactus Pryor. And going to the games with my Dad and hearing Wally Pryor as the Voice of Memorial Stadium. Great seasons for Texas were crowned by Lindsay Nelson calling the Cotton Bowl game from Fair Park, where the Longhorns had battled the Sooners when the grass field was green and the temperature at kickoff was warm. With Lindsay Nelson's voice came the brown grass of the field in Dallas just bitten by the first frost. Some years the Cotton Bowl game was really special when the visitor was Navy or Notre Dame or Bear Bryant's Alabama with a National Championship on the line or the star player had already been awarded the Heisman. Those are my memories of growing up loving the Longhorns and then going to the games with a student ticket. Followed by decades of Season Tickets as a Texas Ex Life Member. Now I mostly watch the Horns on TV. Just like with Cactus and Wally, Chris Schenckel, Lindsay Nelson and Keith Jackson, I'm going to miss Lee Corso's Saturday morning schtick as the Longhorns march to their next Natty! Hook 'Em Horns!
  7. BK... go check on Greg Brooks Jr and his family.... focus on that. Arch told you to kick rocks and you jelly and scarred. Get your accent together.. and beat Clemson. I can't stand Dabo... but I hope they blow LSU out. Celebrate the day he gets fired.
  8. Taffe, Guilbeau, Muhammad were full time starters. McDonald, Williams started/played in plenty of games as well.
  9. So is Pat going to take over Lee’s role on the show?
  10. I like Kelly more than most, but I'd suggest he concentrate on finally winning an opener this year against Clemson rather than worry about Arch. As for Nussmeier, cut down the ints, play defense and establish a run game to help him out.
  11. One of our OL ran into Comer, You are the one who mentioned Street and his pass. Street didn't play in the O line. I don't care to mention the lineman's name because it was an accident, and it happened a long time ago. He probably wouldn't want his name mentioned as being involved in the knee injury that wrecked Comer's career. Capiche?
  12. He's not wrong. Arch has a lot to prove. Nussmeyer has much more experience. I'll take Arch's upside and bet the experience he gains through the year has Arch ready for the playoffs.

  14. He had a fantastic year. Agree, well deserved.
  15. Colin Simmons is gonna make our defensive backfield's job easier with opposing QBs fearing for their life.
  16. Reminds me of Chris Sale. What a season congrats to Texas and Mr Volantis
  17. And 2nd Team All American Michael Taaffe will be playing in the NFL a year from now. Until then, he's determined to have this secondary playing 'LIGHTS OUT" and win a Natty on Jan 20, 2026.
  18. I think there is the potential. I think the secondary gets protected a little early bc we will be getting pressure. The talent is there. Just has to gel.
  19. Everyone was nervous last spring, given our secondary being abysmal in 2023 and getting torched by Penix and the Washington receivers. People were calling for the secondary coaching staff to be replaced. Nansen helped stabilize things between the front 7 and back-end of the defense. With Akina back plus all the athleticism combined with strong LB and Edge play, QBs are gonna be throwing on the run more often, no clean pockets. That's gonna help our defensive backs. Jelani McDonald is a beast.
  20. It is absolutely mind boggling impressive when you think about how far Sark, PK, Johnny Nansen and the rest of the defensive staff have come over the past 4+ years. Looking at several ranking sites, including NCAA, CBS and ESPN, whether you focus on yards per game, points per game or other computer generated rankings, Texas Longhorns Defense has improved more in the past 4 years than any other team in D1 and it's not even close. Wasn't that long ago in 2021 when Texas was giving up more than 31 pts per game (Georgia only gave up 9.5 pts per game that season) and Texas was giving up 425 yards per game that year compared to 283 yards and 15 points per game last season. Can the defense actually be better next season? Let's keep it going to a #1 Defense (and #1 Offense potentially) in 2025. We're gonna need that defense to overcome big time offenses at Ohio State, Florida, Georgia and we want to shut down OU and A&M. 21. I am very concerned about the defensive backfield. All new coaches, only returning two starters and one that got burnt multiple times in the playoffs.
  22. Dronnett, tough, mean and a leader on a truly great defense (until they ran into Miami)
  23. ESPN's FPI, which runs 20,000 simulated games for each team has projected Texas' Defense #1 going into the season as well. They've been on this bandwagon for the past 2 months. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45284359/2025-college-football-fpi-power-index-best-matchups-title-odds
  24. I’ll answer that after game one.
