  1. Burke's best ball is all in front of him.
  2. Lighten up on Dad. He had a bad day with his emotions for his son that hopefully doesn't repeat itself, especially for his son's sake. He's heavily invested in his boy and is worrying too much about his future and being unable to control things for him. This is a moment to realize it's out of his hands now and up to his son to face the adversity, work even harder and eventually he will rise through it . Competition is always going to be there at any school and the pain being felt now is just in this season. Encourage him and be his best cheerleader, but let him face these things knowing he will rise above it in time and with hard earned character gained in the process.
  3. Absolutely! Also, this could be a few years ago where you had to be near perfect and could not afford to even lose one game. This team has a real shot. They don't have to be perfect, they just have to be good enough to win all but two of their games. If we can't do that then we don't deserve it anyway. I like our chances.
  4. He has done well at OU so I can see why they extended him. His floor is always going to be competitive just not sure his ceiling will be championship level. Time will tell.
  5. A younger friend of mine is planning a trip to Austin on a game day and then a couple days in Hill country around Fredericksburg. He wants to travel to Austin on a Thursday, and experience the game day environment and watch the game somewhere nearby with Longhorn fans in a nearby club or restaurant, maybe the Ohio State weekend. He doesn’t want to shell out what it takes for a ticket. For those in the know, any suggestions appreciated that I can pass on to him? He and his wife are in their 30’s, live out of state. He is a huge Texas fan. I think they plan 3 days in Austin then maybe a drive out to the hill country maybe to the Fredericksburg area for a couple days.
  6. Agree fully. We are all accountable for what we produce especially when fully resourced and enabled to do our job.
  7. Welcome to the best Texas site. These are the best mods in the business, and they also do a good job of creating good board culture among Longhorn friends.
  8. I commend my fellow board mates for the spirited discussion and back and forth. My take home question is: can this mixture of highly recruited, large humans we have invested serious time recruiting, developing and money be brought together into a cohesive, effective unit by our coaching staff? All excuses aside, the buck starts and stops with our offensive line coach. He has a lot of skins on the wall, some good and some bad. I think we will learn a lot about his capabilities this season because there are no excuses not to succeed now with the level of depth and available pieces he has on the board.
  9. I had the misfortune of playing across the line from him and getting double teamed the entire game by him. He was the offensive left guard and another guy (Jennings I think who later went to A&M) who was bigger than him at tackle. Was a long night. I did not contribute to his brain disorder I can assure you as I spent the evening crashing into the gap and falling down to plug the hole so as not to end up 10 yards down field.
  10. Tier 1a - Georgia 1b- Texas Tier 2 - Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Alabama (OU made playoff last year w no offense, A&M very talented team with good coach) Tier 3 -Tennessee Florida, Missouri Tier 4 - South Carolina, Auburn Tier 5 - Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Arkansas
  11. He was All State on offense and defense in High School in Plano back when there was one school there.
