this is gonna be a mess for the HS btw. They talked about it already on coffe & football this morning and I couldn't agree more. Think everyone will shrink their roster... no point in having 105 guys just to have 30 or 40 leave every year.

It’s the same everywhere that sport matters. 2026 is set to be the year, and UT’s football program is objectively getting it’s teeth kicked in in the portal despite knowing from about game 2 that we’d have to win the day there to make 2026 dreams possible. So people are pissed. And they would be if this board was dedicated to any blue blood experiencing this level of failure. A quick jaunt over to Alabama’s, FSU’s, Clemson’s or pick your struggling P4 program will look virtually the same. And they’ll think they’re a special fan base there too.

Not sure how many years of portalling its going to take before fans realize losing an 8th string 5 star WR is actually a good thing. He's certainly not worth the NIL he was signed for out of HS. Modern reality of football and its helpful for top rosters to churn players like that. To date Texas has lost about 1 player that we should really be sweating losing.

College football has changed drastically from last off season to this one. We got him with the expectations of keeping him a couple of years at least and trying to develop him. Those days are gone unfortunately.

I know at the end of the day Texas will be fine, as the attrition we are experiencing is similar to the other Blue Bloods within the sport.. but man this sucks. It’s not fun, and just does not feel like the college football I’ve known in my entire life. Yes, things change. This is not for the better. College football was special because it was different than the NFL. Regionality and loyalty mattered. No more.

He is in love with our bench. they put up crazy stats in practice and the amount of water they drank during the games was top of the list. JK JK - Hate to see them go, but Washington got passed up by the eoy. Ffrench was the bottom of the wr pecking order. Zina hurts but he wasn't going to be a starter next year.

that hurts. ffrench was supposed to be the 1a WR of the class. got passed up by lockett and mccutcheon. zina also had potential too--great sack against michigan. this is what i hate most about the new ear of college football--not getting to see the recruits you followed reach their potential @ Texas.

I’m thinking some people should log off until the portal is closed then look and see it’s not all doom and gloom.

Whoever A&M is bringing in on the offensive line isn't as good as the guys that are graduating and we won the LOS the last two years in a row so I'm not particularly worried about who they're bringing in tbh.

I don't expect to win every portal recruitment - but what are we winning at right now? 10% of them? I also don't expect us to retain every player, but we're headed to a scenario where 30% of the current roster turns over in the portal alone. Not including players declaring or otherwise out of eligibility. Hard not to call a spade a spade on that one.

I go to grab lunch and come back to Ffrench and Zina leaving. Damn this is crazy.
