25-26 Director's Cup Thread

Well football may not make the playoffs, so that's points from last year down. -
1,000 yards in 16 games is not the same as 1,000 yard rushers in the 11 game schedules of old. More importantly look at the rushing yards against Ohio State, ASU and Georgia x2 in 2024 and remind me why we decided that staying put with the same RB room and a worse / less experienced OL was going to work?

I agree the money shouldn’t be wasted on a HS player unless they are a DK Moore, Jeremiah Smith, or Ryan Williams type which there isn’t one in this class. Marsh out of Michigan St is someone we should try to lure if we want to add a high end WR type.

Our youth showed but lessons being learned. -
We just need a genuinely elite guy to emerge for us which I hope is Mosley. And all guys will develop along with Arch for sure, but If there is a Cam Coleman level talent on the board than you don’t think twice about giving him a bag IMO. But to your point we need more studs in different places too. We have places in piece, just gotta hope it clicks in the off season. Especially that interior, that’s been the Achilles hill of this offense for the most part.
-
There are plenty of WR in the portal every year. With the strategy to close on developmental HS players to finish the cycle, there will be plenty of money for the right fit in the portal.
-
Early in the year, Arch couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and you can tell he didn't have a lot of chemistry with his receivers. The last half of the year, that's been a different story. I think if Arch can continue to progress, and he can get more comfortable with his receivers, we should be fine. As people have said, there are more pressing issues that need to be addressed. We need some interior o-line and a stud running back.

well, hell. Won some unlikely matches early in the year and lost some unlikely matches late in the year, it all seemed to even out (as it always does). anyone have a sense of where we'll be seeded nationally? (I'm just watching, not listening to SEC Network commentary). -

9-9 in the 5th set and then Kentucky scores 6 straight. texas had 23-19 in the 3rd set and didn’t close it out. Kentucky controlled the match from there on. -

Set 5, Texas down 7-8 -
I think we have plenty of speed in the WR room it was just not used properly early on, well at least until about a month ago. You have to also factor in Sarks good ol “circle of trust.” The freshmen all have speed and so do the guys in the 2026 class. IMO use money that would be needed for him towards the portal.
-
It's just the way it is, especially with positions of actual need elsewhere. All 4 starting WR's should be back and then you have the current Fr and then the incoming Fr. I could see a few guys leaving but not enough to justify taking somebody there. Let alone the one everyone wants in Coleman.

Ok, we’re not comparing apples to apples. Different teams, different lines, different skill players, different QB, different opponents, different scheme, and different play callers. Not to mention ton which of these guys would’ve really been interested in coming into a RB room already crowded with a team leader, program guy, 1000 yard back, and. 5 star coming back strong (we were told) from an injury. Not to mention the requirements of backs in this offense also knowing they weren’t ever going to be the guy. That title always will be Arch’s. Let’s deal in what we have not what might could have happened if. My guess is those guys would’ve played poorly too then y’all would be complaining how much we spent on a back we didn’t need and can’t use and we should’ve spent it on a receiver or defensive tackle.
-
Yeah unfortunately I agree with you, it is a need though. The guys we have are getting better and maybe someone can emerge as a gadget guy. Very interesting to see what the staff does this offseason for sure.

Going to set 5 with Kentucky having all the momentum -
Unless some of the guys in the WR room leave, we're not getting anyone in the portal at WR.
