My near term hope in this program

It’s worse when you stretch back 50 years and realize how little we have accomplished as a program. -
Dre Quinn has committed to Ohio State

Well, get ready. The Dominos could start falling over and this could get ugly. In fact, I fear it's likely to get ugly in Austin. Regarding the game in Athens last night I was struck by recalling something Gerry Hamilton said recently. In evaluating recruits, you have to ask if the young man "Likes" football or "Loves" football or "LIVES" football. Very true, Gerry. The NIL money these days smoothes things over a little for college football players after a disastrous performance like last night, but a team needs as many players as it can get who are in the category of "LIVES IT." Hook 'Em! -
Texas has 1 NC and 3 conference championships in the 2000’s. As a Horn fan hate to admit it but this is a normal season 🤘

Who cares what shots anybody takes if we dont ever play with an edge. Kirby smart is just the most recent example of people commenting on the texas program in this manner. When is the texas program gonna move around daily like we want to hit the opposing team in the mouth. Program mentality needs some help. Texas is plenty talented enough. This isn't these coaches first rodeo either. All these guys have been around champions. When they decide too, texas will dominate any and everybody. Until then, we as fans must endure what we see. -
This has been a Herman type year. Come in with the highest of expectations, just to go 7-5 or 8-4. Coach distractions mid year. (NFL rumor). Team undisciplined and the talent/development looks subpar. If we have the same type season next year would Sark be fired?

I looked up "Disaster" and "Bust" in my Old School Dictionary and the 2025 Texas Longhorns team photo appeared twice. No copy, just the team picture cited under each word. Hook 'Em!

The difference in mentality is glaring. Kirby builds on toughness, culture, and effort first, that’s why he has national titles. -
Sark is what he is, outside of 2 years it’s 7-8 wins type HC

He's still an ass. The guy bitches and whines to the refs more than any coach I can remember. I think the refs are actually scared to flag his team. -
He wasn’t dropping passes.

"If you can stop the run, you make it really hard to play quarterback, when you can't, when you struggle to run the ball. That's what helps Gunnar, we have a really consistent commitment to the run and the run game." - Kirby Smart, defensive-minded coach with a better offensive approach to running the ball than we have. We cannot commit to a run game to save our life. -
The playcalling and decision making would indicate he’s not sober 🙃 jk. I don’t think he’s relapsed but in all seriousness his focus is clearly not on Texas football

He’s tired of us going in and money whipping his recruiting targets. So he sticks the knife in every time he beats us. It’s just all part of a mentality he coaches with that makes him so successful. Always finding an edge and maximizing talent instead of making excuses. -

He’s our daddy so he can say what he wants. I can say he’s a classless a&&hole because that’s all i got. -
Wow. So who do you guys think we should go get to replace him? I remember the 10 years before this staff came on. I like where we are now compared to then. Georgia is a better team than us. They are starting to roll and really hard to beat at home. I did not expect to beat them. Is there any truth to the booze comment ?

Yes. The Longhorns were SO CLOSE for two seasons under Sark. A made field goal from the right hashmark might've been the difference. Just a bit more of the pride and winning spirit Texas was known for with DKR at the Helm was needed, and it wasn't far away. 2005-06 and VY now seems further away than it really was. I started following the Longhorns as a schoolboy in 1968 and I have loved the Horns ever since. Watched the James Street team, "the Worster Bunch," beat Arky in 1969 for the Natty. Told my father that day "I'm going to college in Austin," and I did. Texas Exes Life Member. Season ticket holder until I retired. You are correct in your observation about the Horns right now. It feels like they need a teardown and a rebuild because, with the exception of Arch, Colin Simmons and about three other players (who are leaving for the Draft) a return to championship play in '26 is unlikely. It's been fun... especially the victory over Bama. I generally don't whine about officiating, but if the Zebras had called the safety correctly in the North end zone of DKR in the first Alabama game or if the corner blitz had been executed properly by the Horns D late against the slippery Bama QB...it would have been TWO wins vs Saban. It was just that close. Or if Quinn hadn't been injured in the first matchup... Quinn was off to a great start and he was never the same physically or mentally after that injury. Now... Texas isn't close. Lack of focus and motivation are showing up too frequently, and the OL play has fallen off a cliff. The Offense lacks explosive playmakers to help its' QB, who has gotten over a bad case of the Yips. The Defense is losing two of the best players to the NFL and the front seven isn't connected and coordinated with the Defensive Backfield. Special Teams have blown hot and cold. Game changing punt and kickoff return units have started committing Bonehead penalties and being asleep at the wheel on an onside kick they thought they were prepared to handle is a prime example. Far too often this season, the Longhorns appeared unfocused and flat and a bit soft. They needed a transfusion of "Don't Tread On Me" blood. "It's A Long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock And Roll," and right now I can no longer see the Top after being so close. I know it isn't easy and I take pride in being a reasonable fan, but this season has been especially painful after all the pre-season optimism. I think the pre-season #1 ranking was Saban's "Rat Poison." Rant concluded. Thanks. Longhorns fans need to give CDC and Sark some space and support because the task in front of them is going to be difficult. It feels like some dramatic things happening in the program is very possible. Hook 'Em!

If one listens to Kirby’s post game PC, he mentioned “Texas kids” on Georgia team and said this in response to a question … “It’s what we build our core culture around, being the more physical team and you have to recruit physical players… I don’t know that, a lot of these kids want a check. They don’t want physicality. If you have the check and no physicality, you end with nothing. You’re not just getting checks at our place. We’re hitting people.” That is clearly aimed at two recruits in his mind, and future recruits in head-to-head battles
