Big focus on complementary football today in the Monday team meeting.

Sark is really hammering home how important it was for Texas to maximize field position in the Ohio State game. That goes for the offense and defense.

Sark said Arch is a better athlete "than he probably gave himself credit for," and said the trust Arch has in his legs will help him.

Sarkisian says he thinks the game can mount on a young quarterback when drives stack up without points. He says Arch doesn't need to press because of the defense he has behind him. "I think he started to play football in the 2nd half the way that he is capable of playing." Sarkisian also says he thinks Arch gave himself more credit with his athleticism in the second half more than he did in the first half.

Sark on Arch: "All in all, I think he started to play football in the second half."

Steve Sarkisian on QB Arch Manning: "I thought we started to see the glimpses of what he's capable of. A lot to look forward to this season."

Sark has a lot of respect for Ken Niumatalolo and the job he's done at San Jose State. With that said, "this week is really about us," he said.

Sarkisian says it was "definitely encouraging" to see the offensive line perform the well they did with 4 first-time starters in that environment.

Sark: "We've got a ton of potential. Now, we've got to make that come to life."

Sark: "I thought Manny Muhammad competed his tail off against a great player in Jeremiah Smith."

Sark: "All in all, I was proud and happy for Cedric Baxter."

He mentioned the two penalties on Ohio State's touchdown drive and the penalty against Liona Lefau that negated a safety that really hurt.

I have seen it talked about on social media and other sites but is there a coach who talks to Arch on the sidelines after every series?

Sarkisian points to a few untimely penalties, the Lefau hands to the face, Simmons hands to the face and a 3rd and 5 false start that bumped Texas back to 3rd and 10.

The timing of the penalties was a huge issue, Sark said.

Sark liked the running game. He thought Texas started making plays in the passing game as the game went on.

Sark is running down the list of the good things the defense did on Saturday. One disappointing thing was that Texas ended a streak of 24 consecutive games with a turnover forced.

Texas had a 24-game streak of forcing a turnover, the longest in the country, come to an end vs. Ohio State.

Sark's message to the team was that the Ohio State loss won't define who the Longhorns are in 2025.

Sarkisian says the team really built on things that needed adjustments as the game progressed, something he was very proud of when reviewing the tape.
