  1. Past hour
  2. I think tough non conference opponent game like Ohio St should be on a year to year basis until we get to 16 CFP teams. So I would absolutely cancel or reschedule the Ohio State game to another year when we think the CFP will be at 16 teams. Just my opinion
  3. Tough win against non conference Alabama got us in a couple years ago.
  4. That would make sense, especially if the Big 2 have four or more spots each.
  5. Posted in another thread but we’re giving ourselves little room for error with sec moving to 9 conference games. But it will be the typical Texas fan expectation of being happy to make the playoffs when we do but not demanding it
  6. That’s a lovely saying but reality is we’re being stupid by continuing to play them. Is Indiana being penalized for playing a weak schedule? ND? Or even Aggie? We are moving to 9 conference games and our future conference schedules aren’t easier than what we have had this year. You’re leaving no room for error in a 12 game schedule and potentially 4 marquee games come post season. I’d rather play an Ohio state, Michigan, ND, or whomever in a playoff where it matters. Not at the beginning of the season in a glorified exhibition.
  7. Think they will go away ... in terms of top 2 in a conference. May be replaced with essentially play in games, so still make the CCG TV contract money
  8. People will always be able to point at something as a negative. If December weather becomes the next talking point, be good enough to host is what I would say. But going to 16 playoff teams will keep the meaningful games on the schedule.
  9. Hard to see a 16 team format with these CCGs in place. Will the conferences give these up? Outside of the SEC I don’t think they’re big moneymakers.
  10. "The PRIDE AND WINNING TRADITION of The University of Texas will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid!" You believe in this or you don't. To cancel a game ten months out would be weak and timid.
  11. The only reason we’re still being considered going into this weekend is because we played that game in Columbus. And, all SEC and Big 10 will be required to play a 10th game against a P4 out of conference team when we move to a 16 team playoff. Moreover, the out of conference games are great for college football. Ohio State and Michigan coming in is A LOT better than playing St. Mary’s Church of the Poor in September. And, had we not got our asses kicked in Athens and Gainesville or had the OT games at Mississippi State or Kentucky, things would be different. Those were the killers. We played like absolute crap in all 4 SEC road games.
  12. I wish I was a mod so I could delete the same thread that keeps being made cancel so and so how about we quit crying we lost 3 games and a bad loss to Florida it is what it is at this point. How many more threads are going to be made like this it’s like 5 already?
  13. Do you think 16 kills the AQ bids?
  14. It still will because of hosting round 1 games. Would you rather host round one or travel up north and play in potential snow?
  15. Add on top of it that more playoff teams means more games played against playoff competition to reach the championship. There is absolutely no reason to schedule tough non con games moving forward. It will only hurt your case.
  16. Lane to LSU this morning? Sumrall to Florida?
  17. What’s the point of them though? Even in a 16 team playoff they’re not an advantage and we’d still be better off putting our 2 losses within the conference slate. Why you may ask, well because hosting a home playoff game. I’d rather host than have to travel up north for a playoff game
  18. Good grief… where did I say or even imply that we would cancel OU and/or Aggy? Those are Conference games. South Carolina vs. Clemson and Georgia Tech are out of conference games. IF we had a 16 team playoff, Texas would be in. Thus, it would be stupid to cancel big OOC games.
  19. When the playoff goes to 16 teams ... none of the non-con talk will be a subject or matter any longer. Just need to get to 16 teams sooner, rather than later.
  20. He wasn’t wrong about that. LOL
  21. @Gerry Hamilton so I’m sure you’ll do a write up on this, but can we get a sneak preview as to what happened with the Malaki Lee visit?
  22. LSU got Louisiana kids before Wilson and they will get them after. The obsession some of those fans have with him is funny. Corey Raymond too but at least he used to be able to develop at one point.
  23. Today
  24. As long as I have been watching college football the criteria to determine whether or not a team was good has always been how many loses do you have and when did you lose. Unfortunately, both of those do not work in our favor. We beat 2 top 10 teams in November and we are barely going to be a top 15 team to end the month. A loss to Georgia at the end of October gives us time to change the narrative. Where a loss to Georgia in the middle of November impacts us way more than beating 2 top 10 teams. Do I agree with this methodology, no. But that is how college football is and I doubt that will change anytime soon. Until that methodology changes and who you beat matters more than who you lose to, the solution is not to get rid of the big marquee game in September but to move a cupcake non conference game to November. This increases our chances to go undefeated in November which should always be the goal in November. Big non-conference matchups in September help set the tone for the season and if we win those games allows us to control our seeding as long as we win the games we’re supposed to win. 2023 and 2024 are perfect examples of this. Does it suck that we are going to miss out on the playoffs, yes. Most of us expected that after watching how bad we were against UTEP and Florida. Add in how up and down we were on offense and defense throughout the year most argued how we weren’t a playoff team. My hope is that missing the CFP will change how this staff approaches this offseason. The changes this staff did this past offseason was a regression compared to 2023 and 2024.
  25. Your mistake is trying to understand and make sense of an Aggie decision. When entering the city limits of college station, a completely different type of analytical logic applies. Aristotle and those great thinkers that further defined it would just shake their heads and surrender.
  26. They very well could, like Wilson for example. He is huge in getting kids to stay in Louisiana.
  27. I think that some humans really want to fret about stuff that they cannot control. If the coaches are good (and I believe Sark is) at what they do, they will find players to fill the holes. Last year was an anomaly and will not happen again; The University of Texas at Austin is not a leper colony, and CDC knows what he's doing.
